Bears at Vikings: 3:15 on Fox

Since nobody else is making the new threads, I'll keep doing it.

It's come to this, Bears are 10.5 point underdogs to the Vikings. You can make an argument that the Bears should have won that game against the Eagles, and maybe even by 10 points, given all the sure touchdowns Cutler missed. Maybe Vegas knows them well be now. Chicago has lost 2 in a row by 4 points, and both games they were 3-3.5 point underdogs. The perception has been the Bears are getting their butts kicked, and while that has been true in 2 of their games, for the most part they've been in the other 4 losses, and maybe should have really won a couple of them.

I had predicted a series split with the Vikings, losing in the dome. So there's no reason to change that now. The Vikings should really handle the Bears with ease, Maybe they'll get some turnovers, and stay in it early, but I doubt it. The 7th loss should end any and all hopes of making the playoffs, as there are 4 teams ahead of them on the WC hunt, and three of them have 6 wins already. You have to think it will take 10 wins to qualify.

It looks to me like the Bears might only have 2 games remaining where they will be the favorites, possibly a 3rd depending on how they and GB do the next two weeks.

Go Blackhawks.

The only thing that scares me is that Cutler is the kind of QB who can take advantage of our safeties if he's on. That's the weakest link of the team. Fortunately Winfield should be back and I think the d-line should be able to get enough heat on him that he won't have enough time to get the ball downfield consistently.

^Which gives Turner license to call the ugly offensive game he is dying to call.

But it won't matter. Hanie may well be starting next week after Cutler's funeral.

Better that than the otherwise inevitable crushing of Cutler and the slobbering over Jared Allen.

Plus, you can confuse and attack Allen... fake screens, chips, slants to his side, designed rollouts to the right. Turn his side into an area that the Vikings need to *defend*, rather than attack, and you neutralize Allen's ability to pressure.

Of course, that doesn't mean you aren't right, kujay. Sigh.

let the whirlwind of rumors begin. I for one embrace this, but I hope it isn't a stupid Chicago media started rumor.

I imagine it started from something like this...

*Bears President and CEO Ted Phillips watches MNF with various staff members*

Phillips: God, I can't believe ESPN signed Gruden to an extension. He shouldn't be working for them; he's so awful.

*Staff member casually chats with media contact over lunch the next day*

Staff Member: Yeah, Phillips can't believe Gruden's still working for ESPN and signed an extension.

Media Contact: OH MY GOD HE'S LOOKING TO REPLACE JERRY ANGELO AND IS EVALUATING POTENTIAL REPLACEMENTS!
