This is hilarious, Lovie is talking like twice as fast as he normally does, but he is still saying the same "Loviespeak" that he is notorious for. I think him talking super fast is a sign he's pissed off.

For those wondering, he was quoted as saying that there's a lot of football left still and that they need to treat the rest of the season like the playoffs.

Phoned it in the last 30 minutes, no question.

I'm not used to seeing Bear teams give up. Bottom line: not one dime goes to this franchise until I see improvements. Big improvements.

How can we even make improvements with no draft picks? Of course even if we had draft picks, we've proven to be unable to draft the correct players. We can buy a few FAs, but how many FAs that are legit building blocks are out there every year? A handful at most, and the best are probably going to be out of the Bears price range.

I'm not liking the Adams trade. That guy seriously needs to hit the weight room in the offseason.

Alex Brown goes down for over a quarter of the game and not once do I hear Gaines Adams name mentioned. What was the damn point of that trade? Waste a 2nd round pick on maybe the 8th most important position we needed improvement at. And it's arguable whether the player we got will ever be an improvement or be worth a 2nd round pick.

I wish we could have moved Curtis Enis for a 2nd round pick 2 years into his failure

Well I think they are planning on losing Adewale. It must have been a trade for next year. But the way Adams is playing, Mark Anderson is better.

Is Favre right up there in the MVP voting with Manning and Brees?

Again, even if you remove Ogunleye from this team (even when they were 3-1, which is what they were when they made the trade), I can easily think of about 8 different places they needed improvement from before DE. They actually have at least somewhat average replacements for Ogun, or at least 1 (anderson). And it's not like the needs of their team weren't glaring when they were 3-1. It was pretty obvious this team was lacking in certain areas from the first game of the season on. They knew they didn't have a 1st, and they knew Adams did almost nothing so far in the NFL. So why the hell did he make that move?

Gaines is a bust. His own coach called him a possible bust heading into the season, then they dumped him. A 2nd round pick is a valuable pick. Angelo screwed up big time on that trade. What is going to make Gaines a great player suddenly? He's too small and doesn't show much heart. I don't even think that kind of stuff is necessarily even coachable.

It was the wrong trade at the wrong time for this club. I'm really angry at Angelo for that one.

I don't know why. I am not so much against the Adams trade, but you shouldn't have to give up a second rounder for a first round bust. And you cant give up your second rounder when you don't have a first. Jerry must like his former team's players.

Because Rod Marinelli is like the most amazing coach ever and he can turn an 87 year old grandma into a pass rushing king...err queen.

CSN's postgame poll is a good one:

If you could take 1 position from the Viknigs (and give it to the Bears), what would you take?

a) O-line

b) D-line

c) QB

d) RB

e) WR/TE

I could easily hear arguments becuase it's close in my mind, but here's my picks in order of desire:

1. O-line

2. D-line

3. RB

----------------Big gap

4. QB

5. WR/TE

After the first three games the Bears had a really good pass rush (second in the league). I thought Marinelli was the difference. Angelo must have thought he could turn him around.

I knew this was going to be a bust from the very moment Marinelli was hired, I don't care who is coaching them garbage in = garbage out. They simply can't rush the QB nothing or no one was ever going to change that.

I thought he was making a difference, but then I realized that the Packers O-line is awful, the Steelers O-line is average at best, and the Seahawks o-line had some injuries.

With an OL such as the Vikings the Bears are easily 7 - 4 if not better.

I don't know how they improve the OLine with Angelo. He's abysmal at OLine. I suspect the OLine coaching is really bad too because it's just hard to believe they could really be this bad on their own with good coaching.

But mostly, Angelo can't get the job done in this area so our once promising QB acquisition is likely to continue to run for his life, or be relegated to 3-step quick throws to avoid hospital bills.

This, right here, is the single most depressing thing for me as a Bear fan. Can't win without a solid OLine. Can't get one with Angelo. Done. End of story.

I'd Take Peterson. The Vikings have great lines, but Peterson is a cut above them.

QB, because I don't think we'd contend with Favre, and he'd be retired before we would be able to put an OLine in front of him of any competence. We need someone young enough to outlast Lovie & Angelo.

The OL has been extremely inconsistent with run blocking all year. Teams are still stacking fronts against them and a lot of times Adrian isn't patient enough. But they've still not given him a lot of room to run. Pass protection has been very good since the first couple games though.

From the Bears perspective it's different in terms of what you would want, but of those 5 groups you could probably make the case that the OL has performed the worst of the bunch this year.

Which speaks to how awful the Bears O-line is that I would still take the Vikings O-line over those other 4 positions

I have to say this Bears team has just sucked the life out of me. I mean I've seen my fair share of bad football in the last 24 years (1990's still give me nightmares) but man, even with some of the bad teams I've been able to find reasons to stay invested emotionally. This team......it just feels like they quit on games so often. Just a total mess all the way around. I dunno. I was really excited about this season too.

It sucks. Before Week 10, I remember sitting on my couch during pregame and thinking "man it is Week 10 and I've already conceded the season." It is sad. Oh well.

I'd Take Peterson. The Vikings have great lines, but Peterson is a cut above them.

Peterson has 3 100 yard games this season, against the Browns, Lions, and (!) Ravens. Forte could be putting up numbers similar to what Peterson has done this season with the Vikings O-line (which probably says a lot about how teams have gotten burned trying to stop him instead of the passing game, but still). Improving the O-line tremendously improves the passing game and the rushing game.

edit: I'd have to put D-line way behind O-line because the Bears are so bad at so many defensive positions. It's not even the worst part of the defense

Posted
Peterson is averaging almost 5 yards a carry and is 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards with 999. He's also 2nd in the NFL in rushing TDs with 11. I'd say he's definitely doing more than just doing his job.

As I posted above, the Vikings o-line has not been a good run blocking unit this year. Teams are also still stacking the box to stop Peterson primarily which is why Favre always seems to have open receivers to throw to.

Adrian hasn't been as good this year. He's missing things and that's noticeable when Chester is always getting positive yards and running with a better tempo right now. But Forte just doesn't look good at all this year even when there is room. I would rather have Taylor right now.

His YPC by game, in order: 7.2, 6.1, 4.5, 2.2, 4.5, 6.5, 3.8, 3.9, 7.4, 3.4, 3.4. He's doing this with one of the top few pass offenses in the league for a team that has been in the lead for almost all of the time in almost every game. He's good, but he's not "win games by himeslf- Barry Sanders" good, at least not the large majority of the time.

But it is sooooooooo much easier to replace a RB than an entire bad, old offensive line. Even without a 1/2 round pick next year the Bears might be able to find a decent one. The Bears could blow all of their picks over the next two years trying to get 5 new offensive linemen and still not get a good group.

Maybe not this year, but that is because the Vikes are throwing the ball a lot more. But I am confident that Peterson could take over any game whenever he wants to.
