I can see the Yankees going after Cameron if they don't get Bay or Holliday or the like.

doubt it because they have Melky or if they decide to trade Melky, they'll probably sign Damon.

The Yankees had Matsui, Melky, Damon, Nady, Swisher and Gardner last year, so I wouldn't rule out that they might still have interest in a guy like Cameron.

Just because Hendry's idea of depth is Aaron Miles doesn't mean every other team out there believes the same.

Why in the [expletive] would the Tigers want Phil Coke?

Why in the [expletive] are the Yankees getting prospects back?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this but i dont think the yankees get anything other than Granderson. This is the deal on MLBtraderumors.com

the Yankees get Curtis Granderson

the D'Backs get Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy

Tigers get Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Austin Jackson, and Phil Coke.

I think the Tigers got a decent return, I would pick Scherzer over Austin Jackson. I think Phil Coke and Jackson are overrated. The Yankees in my opinion underpaid and i think thats largely in part because people have this perception that jackson is a stud and so is kennedy.

There must be something going on with Scherzer and Schlereth's labrums to make that deal. Why give away dominant pitching talent for a flyball pitcher in a hitter's park? I don't see why the Diamondbacks even got involved.

I have a feeling the Dbacks are overvaluing Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy. Dont know much about Schlereth but Scherzer is a beast and he's fairly young.

Not sure about some of the guys the Yanks gave up, but Granderson isn't so wonderful that they should give up too much. They could be disappointed.

Mark Schlereth tells a funny story of the time Daniel almost threw a fastball through his ribcage while he was catching him in a side session.

In that lineup all he'll have to do is get on base to fulfill his contact. He fits much better with the Yankees in terms of pieces than he does with the Cubs. IMO, this is a very good trade for the Yankees, not so much for the D'Backs.

Its a very very good trade for the Yankees, a good trade for the Tigers but a horrible trade for the Dbacks.

The Yankees receive center fielder Curtis Granderson, who turns 29 in March. Granderson is owed $5.5MM in 2010, $8.25MM in '11, and $10MM in '12, with a $13MM club option/$2MM buyout for '13. That's $25.75MM guaranteed over the next three years. Melky Cabrera could now be expendable for the Yankees, and the Cubs are one possible suitor.

No Thanks!

Granderson is going to REALLY enjoy the switch from Comerica to the short porch in RF.

Well, at least we wont be following this until Spring Training and have several "confirmed" reports that we traded for him, only for those to be retracted hours later.

hmmm what if we traded Zambrano to the Yanks for Hughes, Cabrera and maybe Montero? Then Flipped that for Halladay.

That would make more sense than what the Diamondbacks just did.

Wow. Anyone who thought Josh Byrnes was a rising star two years ago probably feels pretty stupid right about now.

shouldn't the yankees have given up someone good in a trade for a good player?

Only if the other team requires it.

Byrnes: How about Robinson Cano?

Cashman: Make it Phil Coke and we have a deal.

Byrnes: Sweet!

Byrnes prolly thought he was getting a heir to the Coca-Cola fortune.

Schlereth is a top Dbacks prospect. He had some armn/shoulder related issues this past season in AA IIRC.

Only thing I really know about him though is that when I was transferring video to the BayBears coaches computers he was discussing in the other room whether or not he should spend a million dollars on his house. Hard hitting facts.

Other than that though he's supposed to be a good hard throwing reliever. Tigers got a good return for those two.

How teams evaluate players has always fascinated me, but I just read that the Tigers asked for BOTH Ellsbury AND Buchholz for Granderson. If that's indeed true, how did they settle for what they did this quickly?
