I can understand that. But I've been running this website for six and a half years now and haven't engaged in that kind of sleazy speculation during that time. I'd kind of think I've built up a little credibility by this time.

And the Daily Herald article I linked should back up the opinion that this is a valid rumor at this point. Whatever "valid rumor" means.

Oh, and for those saying that 312sports is a bad idea...

the seven day alexa ranking for the site after two months is already higher than that for NSBB after six and a half years. (the one month ranking is a bit lower and the three month ranking is obviously much lower, but with traffic building over time, the seven day is a more accurate showing of where the sites currently stand). I also found the idea fairly well validated when ESPN started announcing things like ESPNchicago.com after we started the process to launch the site.

Maybe it's just me but that Daily Herald blurb did not read like a "hot rumor" but rather one writer simply saying there is a way to make salaries match and the Bulls would be open to getting him.

Yeah, there don't seem to be any rumors and more just idle speculation in all of those links.

And I don't understand how the Alexa Ranking would work, but aren't you potentially talking about comparing numbers between 312Sports and a board about the Cubs when the Cubs haven't played a game in almost three months?

The alexa ranking for nsbb generally hovers in the 280K range during the season and around 300K in the offseason. That we've been able to climb into that range for 312sports in just a couple of months means we're getting a significant amount of traffic pretty quickly considering we have zero marketing budget for the site.

Hoho, Adrian Wojnarowski puts Forman on blast and gives a half hearted defense to VDN: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AlyKl7lOE0XQeQv7Je1TpW28vLYF?slug=aw-formanbulls123009&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Good stuff.

excellent piece. but coaches are supposed to be fired prematurely in the nba.

the bulls front office is an absolute joke and won't cease to be an absolute joke until reinsdorf sells the team.

But isn't most of that traffic just coming from here?

A fair amount of it comes from here, but we've generated a fair following among Illinois fans from other sites and also for other teams from various places. I'd say that at most 33% of the overall traffic comes from here and it's getting less and less all the time. We're significantly lower than that at this point.

Really, the only thing we're struggling to get going there is the message board.

A source with knowledge of the situation in Chicago said the Bulls would likely insist on getting either Luis Scola or Carl Landry in a trade, making it a four-for-two deal. The Rockets would get James in addition to Miller, Salmons, and Thomas, while sending McGrady and a forward to Chicago. The Rockets are very high on both Scola and Landry, and that could make this a deal-breaker. It remains to be seen.

Yea, I'm not sure I'm buying the Scola/Landry thing. I mean, they can hold out all they want for that, but they're not gonna get it.

I agree but if Houston is asking for Thomas along with the expirings then the Bulls should ask for Landry or Scola. At this point I don't know if Houston is asking for Thomas.

I'd rather try to move Hinrich or even Deng in a move for expirings. Unloading those guys for McGrady doesn't really improve our cap situation does it? Unless Salmons is really serious about not exercising his opt out...in which case I would be threatening him with a ton of DNP-CDs in 2010-2011.

Deng has like $50 million dollars left on his deal. McGrady is in the last year of his contract. I don't see how Houston would want to take Deng's contract. If they offered and I was Forman, I would trade Deng immediately.

I would guess Houston wants to get rid of McGrady because of his attitude and because they might not be interested in offering him a contract after this year because he could not be healthy. Might as well save $12 million because the Rockets aren't going anywhere this year.

I've been for this for quite some time now. We absolutely need to move Hinrich before the deadline.

I'm going to Auburn Hills tomorrow afternoon. So much for not watching this team under VDN, although the tickets were just $8 a person. Kind of hard to pass that up.

I agree. If Thomas is in the deal, then the deal doesn't make much sense for the Bulls. If Scola/Landry are in also, it doesn't make much sense for the Rockets.

Who knows if TMac can even play right now. I wouldn't unload Thomas for him, even with the cap situation. You can always trade Thomas in the offseason if absolutely necessary.

Yeah, Tyrus and Scola/Landry makes no sense. Rockets won't get Tyrus for a disgruntled, lame duck player. Bulls won't get one of the top 3 scorers and rebounders from a team that is 1 game away from having the 3rd best record in the West.

McGrady is $23 Mil off the books this offseason. James and Miller make sense because they would combine to give Houston $18Mil off the books in return. Salmons is there to balance the salaries and to provide Houston (along with Miller) some needed depth. Miller would help a roster of centers (one of whom is 6'6" Chuck Hayes) that combine for just 11 points between them. He would also become their best passing and outside shooting big man. Salmons can combine w/ Shane Battier to be the offensive half of an offensive/defensive combo at the 2-3 opposite Ariza.

If Houston truly wants to dump the disgruntled McGrady, I can't see them getting a much better combination of role players and 2010 payroll flexibility.

Dime magazine reports: Word on the street is that the Bulls could be interested in acquiring Tracy McGrady, the disgruntled Houston Rockets star who wants to be traded. Speculation is that McGrady, who as a free agent in 2000 was wooed by former Bulls general manager Jerry Krause (and was greeted at O'Hare by the Luvabulls, Benny the Bull and a band playing "Sweet Home Chicago"), could be had for John Salmons and two other players with expiring contracts, Brad Miller and Jerome James.

That word is on my street. I started an internet rumor! YAY!

OK. We have a deal!

Noah is a beast.

And for all who think Gordon is such an impact player. He had another typical BG game. 21 pts, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 3 TO's.

Pistons without BG this year: 4-7

Pistons with BG this year: 7-14

$58 million over 5 years. Thank god we passed.

Im really not sure what your point is showing the record of the Pistons with or without BG. 4-7 vs 7-14 ok so they are basically identical winning percentage, whats your point?

The Pistons are very bad. I think their coach is worse than VDN.

That was actually pretty fun, although the Palace is a very strange venue. It definitely doesn't have a professional feel to it.
