The decision to start Randy Wolf in game 1 was is similar to starting Ryan Dempster in game 1 last year. Both were average pitchers at best going into the season, and both had really good consistent years that earned them the nod I guess. Also, starting Padilla in game 3 is like starting Harden. OK not really, Padilla is crap and Harden was really good but slowed quite a bit from injury. Lilly probably would have been a better choice since he was pitching so well.

right except dempster is a pitcher with power stuff whose peripherals actually supported that he was really good last year. wolf is a soft-tosser (those types of guys normally struggle in the playoffs) whose numbers are a BABIP mirage.

Touche. I didn't really think about it that deeply.

screw the dodgers...i hope they enjoy this brief first inning success

they are about to be bent over...for shame

oh and manny! - eat [expletive]!

I don't care if who the Dodgers have on their team; how the hell can you root for the Cardinals?!?

um...they are NOT playing the cubs

they are a quality team

being my dad's favorite team probably helps as well

None of this makes it remotely okay to be rooting for the Cardinals.

I suppose there were a few black people who were rooting for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Different situation, I know, but the enemy is the enemy.

This has to be one of the slowest lower scoring games in the history of baseball.

That lasted 3:54. I guess leaving a combined 30 runners on base will do that.

I read that the 30 runners LOB is a playoff record. May as well have been The Cubs vs. The Cubs.

They set the record combined after only 6 1/2 innings with 25. Insane.

Wow, the Cardinals have been pathetic with runners in scoring position the past 24 hours.

C'mon Manny.

Is Carp for sure coming back on 3 days rest for Game 4 or is it still up in the air. Who would be their Game 4 starter if not? Lohse? Smoltz?
