This has to be one of the slowest lower scoring games in the history of baseball.

thankfully the dodgers may survive the awful decision to pitch randy wolf in game one.

It gets better. Joe Torre will be going with Vicente Padilla for game 3.

what a joke. it's like he's actively trying to lose the series.

John Rooney (Cards' radio braodcaster, calling 2-out Pujols AB): "2-1 pitch... outside! and Holliday will have a chance to tie it with one swing!"

Apparently, John thought we were playing slow-pitch softball tonight.

Tomorrow is a must-win for the Dodgers. Obviously it's a must-win for the Cards too because they're going with Wainwright and they'd be in an 0-2 hole, but I don't like LA's chances if they lose to the Cards tomorrow. I don't see how they win Game 3 with Padilla going to the mound.

i didn't really think they'd win randy wolf versus chris carpenter.

why is mitchell boggs on the postseason roster? was there something about his 1.8 WHIP that inspired confidence? generally you don't use a postseason roster spot on a mop up reliever.

The decision to start Randy Wolf in game 1 was is similar to starting Ryan Dempster in game 1 last year. Both were average pitchers at best going into the season, and both had really good consistent years that earned them the nod I guess. Also, starting Padilla in game 3 is like starting Harden. OK not really, Padilla is crap and Harden was really good but slowed quite a bit from injury. Lilly probably would have been a better choice since he was pitching so well.

Jonathan Broxton is a fatty fatty fat fat.

Between him and Heath Bell, I'm fairly sure the two of them could bodily ingest any other closer in the majors.

Why couldn't DeRo hit like that when he was on the Cubs in the playoffs? All I remember is GIDPs on 3-1 pitches with the bases loaded.

With the tying run at the plate, Mike Shannon sounds like he's reading the phone book. Strike 3. Go Dodgers!

NLDS Game 1. Go-ahead HR?

Meh, he got jammed on that pitch and the wind helped get it out and stay fair ;)

Actually DeRo hit decently last year and bad in 2007. This must feel like Groundhog day for him though, another poor hitting performance for his team in the postseason.

Edit: just looked it up. Over 1.000 OPS in 08 and surpringly (to me) a .833 OPS in 07. He was 3-9 with 3 singles and 0 RBIs, but for the most part he didn't hit when it count. He hit a single with 1 out and the bases empty in Game 1, he hit another single leading off the 4th inning of Game 3, and his last single was with 2 outs in the 8th inning trailing by 3.

That lasted 3:54. I guess leaving a combined 30 runners on base will do that.

How great is it that Jeff Weaver got the improbable, playoff win tonight. The Cards created that monster....
