Do Zambrano's teammates not like him? Would they be happier if he were gone?

Im pretty sure that not everyone of his teammates like him and his antics, showing them up, etccc. Lets ask Michael Barret his opinion, or the countless number of OF's hes showed up.

Michael Barrett is his teammate? When did the Cubs reacquire him?

I love how so many people that aren't racist take it personally when a player talks about racist fans.

He wasn't talking about you. He was talking about the racists.

I don't think that is it at all. I think most people see think the racism excuse is a cop out.

I don't for a second doubt that Bradley was subject to some racism.

What he said.

I must have grown up in bizarro Chicago or something. I'm not saying I never heard anything racist in my 18 years there, but I never heard the N word used so causually as I did when I moved to Texas. And even in my early days in the Chicago area it was usually an older person using the word in reference to an object or action. In Texas it's used in reference to people.

Where in Chicago did you live?

I grew up in the NW suburbs.

Well no wonder you never saw racism, the people you grew up with have never seen a black person.

I figured something asinine like this was coming. That's not the case at all, but it sounds like you already have your mind made up so I won't even waste my time arguing this point.

yeah, not much Chicago experience here, but I did live in Dallas for 5 years. Very taken aback by how much racism floats around in the Lone Star state, didn't get that vibe in Chicago, but i also didn't live there for 5 years

I taught in the inner city of Chicago for 34 years and racism is alive and well in Chicago, but so is a certain segment of African-Americans who blame racism for everything that happens to them. It doesn't take a psychology major to see that Milton Bradley has serious mental health issues and has had them for years. He has had emotional problems in every city he has been in and well before he ever arrived in Chicago.

I was stuck in Springfield, MO last week and had to listen to the Cards announcers during the Cubs/Cards game. Jim Edmonds stopped by the booth, and they had a pretty interesting interview with him. He spoke highly of his time with the Cubs, and regarding Zambrano said that while Zambrano " lets his emotions get the best of him " while on the field, that off the field he was a really nice guy. He said Zambrano apologized to him " 150 times " for drilling him with a pitch once.

I realize this means little regarding the Bradley situation, but I found it interesting.

You have an intense dislike for Zambrano, we get it.

Pointing out that Zambrano has gotten away with "worse" stuff than Bradley isn't a defense of Bradley's actions. It's a condemnation on the inconsistency of the front office in dealing with their players

But it's impractical. I would've preferred to see Bradley DL'd, but he was gone anyway. You can't suspend a guy with 3/60 left.

Bradley is a dick, but we have had bigger dicks on this team who have done alot more and alot worse, and have never received punishment.

when carlos zambrano claims that he hopes games only last 9 innings so he is out on the field for the shortest amount of time possible, when he throws the entire fanbase under the bus, even though they show up and pack wrigley for an averagely mediocre baseball team and have taken over entire visiting stadiums to make them seem like wrigley, maybe you would have a point.

i am not scapegoating bradley for this lost season. that distinction goes to jim hendry for his boneheaded offseason moves as well as the unfortunate injuries to aramis ramierez and soriano's hurt knee. if i wanted to scapegoat a player, it would be aaron miles. but whose fault is that? hendry. he traded away derosa (which at first i had no real problem with) and signed this guy to play with fontenot to take dero's place which made the end result of the trade something to be desired to say the least. and perhaps i should have been clear earlier- he traded away/let go proven clubhouse leaders and veterans and replaced them with severe headcases and players who shouldn't be on a major league 40 man roster, ala gathright, bako, miles, or released players i recieved in a trade 2 weeks in the season for no reason whatsoever.

but none of them has disparaged the fanbase like bradley has.

as far as i'm concerned, he's going because he called out the fans like hundley did and it cannot work anymore and the situation cannot be resolved. it just also so happens that he is an overpaid average right fielder who can't drive in runs who was signed to drive in runs, and not just get on base. and whether he is at the top of the order or the middle of the order he has not gotten runs in. i hate that i was right in my first thoughts on his signing because that meant that my team had gotten worse not better. i wanted him gone because he was not living up to his contract and did not appear that he was going to as well.

i wonder what the reaction of all the bradley defenders would be if a guy named roster player who signed the same contract for the same purpose and had put up the exact same numbers as bradley did. for the record, i'd say that player's signing showed how horrible a job the general manager and his scouts had done to sign a guy like that to that contract.

Thats the thing I dont have a dislike for Z at all. See Derwoods post to see why Im bringing Z up in this discussion. I cant believe it's that hard for some of you people to see that. Its shouldnt be that hard to understand.

by all means, please feel free to post all the comments from Z's teammates talking about how they don't like him.

This was quite a thread. I read up to pg 5, so if this has already been said.....As to the OF vacancy: I would not rule out Ryan Ludwick as a possibility. He was missused by LaRussa all year, and if Tony stays with the team I can see him asking out.

They have a lot to pull off after the season is over. How to keep Piniero, Holliday and DeRo is the main concearn. Ludwick, ignored all year will be a minor concideration.

I wonder who the Cards would want in a trade?

Fine, but it's also not hard understand that Z is more valuable to the club and has 60 mil left on his contract.

As well as the Cardinals have run their organization I can't imagine that they're going to be too interested in resigning DeRosa unless he can be had for VERY cheap.

Bradley wants to stay. Apparently his child expierenced the racism at school.

When racism hit his 3-year-old baby in school, he couldn't take that," Rector said in a radio interview earlier this week, according to the Sun-Times. "Parents, teachers and their kids called him the n-word. He didn't even know it was a bad word until his mom told him.

First of all I don't think adults are calling a toddler the n word. I tried to picture a scenario in which an adult could direct that kind of angry aggression towards a little tyke. All I could picture was a 3 year old version of MB brooding and stomping around which could totally be reality but I still can't see that prompting racial slurs upon him.

Or this is MB's kid. http://slicedbreadtwo.com/images/uploads/thats_racist.gif

Okay, that's freaking awful if true, but I don't see anyway that it is true. Parents, teachers and their kids? Seriously?

I guess the sensationalism is in the alleged racism, but it would be nice if the article is true and Milton is willing to man up and apologize. I wouldn't mind seeing him back on the team next year. I realize there is no likely way this will happen, but stranger things have occurred and regardless of some comments he was a fairly productive player.

when he throws the entire fanbase under the bus

1. When did Bradley do this?

2. Who [expletive] cares? Your skin seems to be as thin as Bradley's.

He said the fans were involved in creating a completely negative environment and that he doesn't like playing in Chicago. He's also brought up racism, which rightly or wrongly people tend to take as directed towards a large part of the fanbase. As the head of an organization who survives based on how many people come to a game to see your product, you don't want one of your supposed main attractions saying those types of things to the fans you're trying to get to spend money, especially during times like this.

"I watched his swing, and I could tell what was wrong," Rector told the Sun-Times. "His mind wasn't on baseball. He was thinking about all of these other things."

Fire Von Joshua, hire Milton's mom. Problem solved.

But seriously, I think the whole family is bat s**t crazy.

Bradley is getting paid enough that he can send his children to any school he desires....If you have a problem with your child's schooling, yank his butt out of the school and send him somewhere else. Hell, why not just hire a staff to teach your kid? I think the whole thing is horesehowry though. I haven't been to Wrigley this year, but I'm sure Bradley was getting heckled pretty badly about his play from the fans....guess what? The heckling isn't reserved for just african american players. If you don't earn your contract, then you're going to get heckled. Bradley needs to go play for a small market team where no one cares enough to even show up to the game.

Earn your pay. quit whining. take some paxil, adderol, or whatever you 'need' so that you can concentrate on playing baseball...in this case..perhaps a lobotomy or shock therapy.
