Bradley has issued an apology.

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/12253539

"I chose Chicago as a free agent because I wanted to be part of finally bringing a championship to the Cubs' fans. I expected to have a great season and I am deeply disappointed by my performance and the team's struggles," said Bradley, who signed a $30 million, three-year contract in the offseason.

"I wish that I handled certain things different and I apologize for those things that did not work out for the better," he said in a statement. "The air has been cleared, and we all want to move on and look forward to better days."

This is the part I'm not too fond of:

When might Bradley and Hendry talk directly?

"No idea," Hendry said. "Nothing to talk about now. He's home for the rest of the year."

Nothing to talk about? Seriously?

Argue the merits of it all you want, but it's obvious Hendry's just washed his hands of it at this point. Who knows when he'll actually come around to addressing it.

There you go Cubs fans, there is your Zambrano like apology. So everything should be ok and forgiven now right? Right? Yea I doubt it.

As for Hendry's comment, give me a break. Now whos the one acting like a little bitch? Nothing to talk about? Really? Dont let the door hit you in the ass Jimbo.

I hate Hendry too, but you guys are letting the hatred blind you in this case. What was he supposed to say?

He's got to trade him. I think we all agree on that. So, was there anything Hendry could have said that would help him in that charge? I don't think so.

I like that he held his ground. To hell with that guy. At least he was honest.

No, but seriously, you just crushed my message board self esteem, by calling me a bitch. Damnit, I may go stick my forehead with needles filled with heroin, and its all your fault.

Well considering hes still owed alot of money, and if they do trade him they will have to eat a [expletive] of money further hamstringing the club from improvements, Id expect the GM to sit down with him and have a talk. See what Bradley wants to do, does he have any interest in returning to Chicago next year, and if he does, try and come up with a way to make everyone happy.

But you are right, [expletive] Bradley and the horse he rode in on, and lets just dump him so hes off this team, to hell if it makes the Cubs worse.

All Hendry said was that he would wait until the end of the season. That is less than 2 weeks away. I'm pretty sure that there is nobody in Chicago that wanted(or still wants) Bradley to succeed more than Hendry. After all he is the guy that put $30MM into him.

Well I'm happy to see that Milton offered up an apology, but I wonder how genuine it really is. We can't really expect him to come back next year and be a different person. He is who he is and if he's not performing he is going to cause problems. If he is performing, he would be a huge part of this team. But is that a risk the Cubs can take? I don't know.

Then say "we will talk after the season", instead of making a smartass little comment like,"nothing to talk about, hes home for the rest of the year." I mean come on

I think you are taking this too personal. Hendry has serious egg on his face for the Bradley debacle. In all seriousness regarding Bradley's return, if Hendry is still in charge next year he would look like a complete moron if he let Bradley back on the team and Bradley had another blow up.

LOL I'm late to this, but seriously they're claiming parents and teachers at some private daycare were calling his 3 year old the n-word?

If there were any doubt where Milton gets his crazy from...

Beer Summit with Hendry and Bradley will solve all!

I, for one, welcome Bradley back to the 2010 Cubs, as he takes numerous bat-flipping exuberant walks in front of Lee, Ramirez, and a good #5 hitter we don't have yet. Bradley can also write and discuss at length how much he hates the Cardinals, which will help re-direct animosity immensely. Cubs can assign Bradley a PR coach, who never will leave his side other than RF.

Let's win in 2010.

He's got to trade him. I think we all agree on that.

Oh god no.

We can all agree that Hendry is likely to trade him. It takes a lot of absurd rationalization to think that's the best thing for the team... crap like chemistry and pretending his production was counterproductive to the team (which is really only true of Soriano, Gregg, Miles, Cotts and maybe on a smaller scale a couple guys getting paid league minimum being a few runs below replacement.)

No, the smart play is to try to salvage what we can from Bradley's contract.

I don't think Bradley can really offer a sincere apology because of his "issues" there is 100% chance he's going to repeat his actions. He causes problems whether he's producing or not. All of this talk about Hendry and comparing Zambrano to Bradley is garbage. Hendry shouldn't have signed him (let alone for $30 million over 3 years) because Bradley was a certified loon who shows great baseball ability in between his mental breakdowns and his DL stints. To take Bradley's side in all of this is ridiculous. For those of you comparing Zambrano to Bradley, offer to trade each of them and see how many GMs line up. Zambrano is an goofy overgrown boy, while Bradley is a angry man with serious mental health issues.

From MLBTR:

According to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat (via Twitter), Cubs players didn't find out about Milton Bradley's apology until his statement was released to the media Wednesday afternoon. That certainly won't help the level of perceived sincerity

Either way we are screwed.

I'd rather get rid of him and be sucky, then have to deal with this again and still be sucky next year. At least we'll have some kind of replacement if we ship him out this year. There's nothing good about this situation. ZERO!

I’m surprised Hendry didn’t throw in a “what else you got?” . . .

Man, Hendry is handling this sooo poorly.

Look, Hendry is probably more than a little ticked off right now. He gave Bradley a generous contract--overly generous, actually--and gave him something Bradley had been longing for, stability. After sporting six uni's in seven years, he'd finally have a team to call his own for the next three. Bradley obviously loved the support so much he chose to crap on it.

Blame Hendry for doing again what he's done so much of in the past--throwing a ton of money at the problem hoping it will go away. But don't blame him for a second for his reaction to Bradley's "apology."
