Notre Dame may be the first team in history to have votes in the AP poll and lose them all with two straight wins. Horrendously unimpressive.

Granted, our three best players were hurt and two didn't even play, but we should have won by 20 anyway. Charlie Weis with a pretty horribly called game.

That being said, I'd rather say all this crap after a win than a loss.

You're telling me. Michigan's "signature win" looks worse and worse every week. Michigan is gonna get slaughtered once it gets into the meat of the Big 10 schedule. But that's ok, all I want is bowl eligibility...and with Delaware State a virtual lock (waits for App State jokes), we only need to win 1 of the other 7 games to get there.

Hey, just be happy we've already won more games this season than we did last season. Progress.

Michigan has one of the youngest team in the nation. They'll prob get to bowl eligibility, but they are definitely going to struggle against teams like Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. They'll have a decent chance against MSU, Purdue, and Illinois.

Yeah I see us likely beating MSU next week just because they are demoralized right now. I also think we can take Illinois on the road, but who knows. This young as hell team hasn't played a road game yet this year. I think they can finish with a very soft 8-4 season and improve next season.

If Iowa isn't ranked after this game, kittens will die.

And how we lost our Week 1 ranking by beating a very, very good UNI team, and Notre Dame is still ranked even before today is beyond me. Shiny gold pants does not equal greatness.

Also, someone get JoePa out of the rain. He's going to catch his death out there.

Notre Dame was not ranked going into today's game. Iowa had more votes than Notre Dame in both polls.

Well then. I should know better than to listen to people at a bar.

Charlie Weis is still fat though.

2. Texas

You can flipflop Texas and Bama, doesn't really matter.

After today, I'm thinking the guy they interviewed on GameDay has it right. Don't use the previous weekly rankings, just rate the teams based upon where they are after THIS week and their most recent performances.

Vintage Tennessee football today. No passing offense, good rushing offense, great defense.

Tennessee won 34-23 over Ohio and the Bobcats have a fairly solid team. Some nice athletes and well coached. Frank Solich is doing a good job there.

2-2 is not a bad way to start the year, hopefully we can now split with Auburn and Georgia before Bama lambasts us. Montario Hardesty is apparently slowly climbing into a potential first day draft pick and Bryce Brown is really good. Janzen Jackson and Chris Walker may be studs next year too.

Come on. You're ranked ahead of Texas Tech. Stop rushing the field. Idiots.

Yeah that is pretty funny. But I think the fans do it for the fun of it anymore. I mean it is Houston football, it isn't like they have a ton of tradition and pride to draw upon.

In the battle of old OU assistant coaches, the less crazy one wins!

Btw, there are A LOT of old OU assistant coaches coaching right now. Mangino at Kansas, Stoops at Arizona St., Leach at tech, Sumlin at houston. That's just from the top of my head. Stoops runs a damn good program here

add Bo Pelini at Nebraska to that list. I forgot he was an assistant DC to stoops. Chuck long at San Diego State as well. Rex Ryan was too if you want to get technical. He was a DLine coach for a year, i won't really count him though

Chuck Long isn't at SDSU anymore.

Come on, it's not like they've had a ton of chances to run the field lately. They are in instate rival that has probably beat Houston quite a bit over the years. They aren't supposed to rush the field because some pollsters ranked them higher than TTU?

The previous is of coursed based on the assumption that rushing the field is something that can happen every Saturday across college football, and not something that I'd like to see for epic wins only (or at least only ones where a team not in the top 25 beats a top 5 team at any point)

As for the rankings, I'd assume the teams looking to possibly drop out of the Top 25 are Washington (definitely), UNC (likely), FSU (possibly) and Michigan. Michigan is possibly based on an uninspiring win against likely bad team, and the fact that the team they beat to get in the top 25 is looking mediocre at best. Plus there are a lot of teams out there that can make a claim to the top 25 (Georgia Tech, South Florida, Oregon, Iowa, South Carolina).

I am gonna guess Washington, UNC and FSU are out, while Iowa, South Florida, and South Carolina make it in. If one of those teams didn't get in, Oregon probably looks next most likely.

Oregon's going to be the flavor of the week. They'll be in.
