this guy is just totally unreliable. There's gotta be a better option. Hopefully Lou has had it.

Heilman? NO

Marmol? NO

Grabow? NO

You could make Guzman the closer, but then you're asking those other clowns to get the ball to him.

The past two days have sucked, but he's been pretty solid for a while now. I doubt he's going to lose his job.

He needs at least a day or so off from closing duties after crapping the bed two days in a row, even if it's just to let him catch his breath mentally.

Even when he gets the job done, he's constantly throwing meatballs. Hell he threw a meatball to Ramirez in his AB. There are better options than Kevin Gregg. He can be a nice 6th or 7th inning guy when the game isn't on the line, but as far as I'm concerned he shouldn't be the closer anymore.

He throws meat balls every damn time he is out there. It's just depends if the other team can actually hit them. Blah what a terrible game.

if he threw meatballs every time, he wouldn't have a k/9 above 9, and he wouldn't have a .230 BAA.

While Im not saying he throws meatballs every time, hes allowed 10HR in under 50 innings, and RH hitters are OPS'ing almost 800 against him, thats not good.

i hate him and wish the cubs never traded for him. but he is effective at times, and sadly he's probably our best option to close right now.

I'm kind of with Derwood. I loathe Gregg and wish we wouldn't close him, but on the other hand if we close Guzman we now suddenly have no one who can be counted on to get outs in the middle relief corps.

Gregg's HRA numbers are alarming. I you look at every other periphery stat, he's right on par with the rest of his career, except he's done a much better job limiting his walks.

Gregg now leads all reliever's in HR's allowed.

Basically, the guy shows up every 2 weeks with a bp fastball. No movement, no deception. Might as well just lay it on a tee those days and go home. It would probably be less painful.

I was thinking a few days off or maybe a DL stint, but that would work too.

"Cubs are 3-33 when they score 2 runs or less."

-That's a lot of games we havent scored many runs in. (103 total games played)

-Would Sherill be our closer if we got him?

-Any closers out there in free agency next year?

-Go Cubs. Let's go sweep the Reds.

yeah, sweet, good idea guys, who is the better 9th inning option, then?

all these "HE LAYS IT UP ON A TEE" complaints are so stupid. It's not like the 9th inning causes him to serve up fat ones every once in a while. HE'S GOING TO DO THAT OCCASIONALLY NO MATTER WHAT INNING HE PITCHES. Jesus, have some common sense.

If we had a bad-ass, big-money closer, I'd love to demote Gregg. As it is, he's probably our best option, so deal with it.

What a demoralizing loss..Gregg has such the most undeceptive, piece of garbage throw and delivery in baseball. You seriously know whats coming before he throws it..Hes TRASH..Id face him one on one anyday rather than Wakefield if my life on counted getting a hit off any pitcher..FU Gregg with your goggles you [expletive] looking piece of trash
