12:34pm: No mention of Alonso from him, but Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun tweets, "Looks like Rolen to Reds has a 'good chance' of getting done."

12:20pm: Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal says the Reds and Jays are talking about a Rolen-Yonder Alonso swap. Say what?

Hahaha, do they think they are still in it? Why would you trade Alonso for Scott Rolen? They do know it isn't 2000 right?

I remember being so pissed when Rolen went to the Cards, but then we got ARam.

Aram>>>>>>Rolen since then.

I was more pissed about how little Philly got in return for Rolen moreso then the Cards getting Scott.

4:13pm: ESPN's Peter Gammons says the Reds "backed off a potential deal" for Rolen. The Reds are actually hoping to move some contracts, and will listen on Bronson Arroyo, David Weathers, Aaron Harang, and Arthur Rhodes. Plus there's the issue of the Jays not wanting to trade Rolen if they keep Halladay.

Why would Cincinnati make a move like this? I didn't think Jocketty would go there and start trading young players for high priced veterans. I guess this is what happens when you have a veteran manager who does not want to go through a rebuilding process.

So then fire the manager. Actually don't, keep being a doorstep in the division.

Apparently Rolen asked to be traded for personal reasons.

I don't think anybody's blaming Rolen for going to the Reds.

The Reds are definitely this year's oddest buyers.

Interesting deal, but I think the bigger impact may come in 2010, assuming Rolen keeps his form. Just not sold that Dusty Baker's charges are going to make a charge up the standings this year. Seems like his patience ran out on Edwin, but Edwin's had his chances. The arms they gave up seem decent, but the Reds have a good system and some depth.

If Dusty ran out of patience with Encarnacion (he's known for that ya know...running out of patience with young guys that is) and still has his fetish for vets, I hear Cueto has been slumping lately. Wonder what Dusty would think of Miles for Cueto?

Has there been final word of the deal structure here?

That's just Jason's way of saying "welcome to the big leagues, kid".
