I think Minneapolis/St. Paul is underrated. Milwaukee is cool. Louisville isn't a mega city but it's really fun. Everything else good is coastal.

we like to call ourselves a really big town or a real small city. :)

St. Louis (metro area) is a nice Midwestern town. I would take it over 90% of the cities on the East Coast.

Chicago is an amazing place to live, and maybe the greatest city in the world depending on how you judge those things. The only major downer is they have a terrible baseball team on the North Side.

Id be banned for saying that at GRB, oh wait, Im already banned for saying less than that :D

Saying Chicago is a better town than St. Louis is worse than calling an established poster a "whiny little [expletive]?"

For someone with over 10000 posts on a similar message board, you really struggle with understanding rules of behavior.

Im talking about the comment about Chicago having a terrible baseball team on the North Side, genius.

Why would anyone at GRB take exception with you saying the Cubs are terrible?

hahahaha

I lived in Minneapolis for 4 years. The winters are pretty rough and take a whole lot of getting used to, but the only negative thing I have to say about Mpls/St. Paul is.... it ain't Chicago !!

1. San Francisco is a city.

2. I cannot believe two people ranked St. Louis ahead of Austin and no one called them out. Austin is about a gazillion times better than St. Louis. Austin is truly outstanding; and I'm no fan of Texas.

I hadn't worked my way through this entire thread. I would list Austin as one of the 5 best cities in the US. Those two people probably graduated from OU.

I'm sure there's always a portion of the fan base who are freaking out when their team struggles a bit.

But with the recent acquisitions on the hitting side, I really doubt Cards fans as a whole are giving anything up yet.

Excellent point. One of the unfortunate byproducts of the interweb era is the rise of the knee jerk reaction.

First place on July 27th and a fifth of Old Forrester will get you a lap dance at a truck stop.

Play on. 8-)

Do I know you, sir?

St. Louis [to vacuum up] !!!

I'll admit that.

The Chicago political machine took our only chance at being a good if not great city over 100 years ago.

We have a spread out structure, with nothing but a bent piece of stainless steel on a big rivers front and that's it. Oooo except for the semi big round building.

Even our beloved brewer sold out. Only a matter of time before we lose that too.

I swear if my immediate family wasn't here I'd move back to Chicago (family from Waukegan sp?).

But the one thing we do got to be damned proud of is the Cardinals. So like the typical barely endowed male we boast of our ONE impressive credential.

I most certainly am not contemplating suicide over being 1/2 out. Even with having 4 games down and the loss column being favorable to yas.

Cubs just aren't very scary as a team. Bunch of great individual parts, but too individual. But for the first time ina long time the real possiblity exists for the Cards and Cubs to meet inthe playoffs. That would rival the east coast for coverage and excitement.

Cards by 2 at end of season with Cubbies the WC.

Phillies upset by the Cubs, Cards take out LA.

P.S. We also got great FREE amenities that are really good. :P

As a reminder to some of you in this thread:

Your Audience

This is a Cubs fan message board. Fans of rival teams are welcome, but realize that fans of any rival team are naturally biased. Good-natured ribbing and friendly rivalry are acceptable. But the Cub fans who post here regularly have the right not to be baited into meaningless arguments. Stating what should be obvious -- that this is a Cubs discussion board -- does serve notice to other fans in a respectful manner that trolling behavior is neither welcomed nor tolerated.

As a former Waukegan resident myself I can assure you that you spelled it correctly.

Can you honestly telme that this might be the best seasons ending rivalry our teams have ever had?

What would be more fitting for the Cubs to clinch thei first WS in awhile beating the cubs in the NLCS and then the Southsiders in WS?

Or from my perspective .. beating the Cubs in thep[layoffs on route to another title.

Going to be a great race

2004 was better.*

* Oh, wait, Houston won 95 of their last 50 games to take the wild card and we couldn't get Victor Diaz or Craig Brazell out.

Guys, the Cubs just aren't scary. If we would have signed some ugly guys like the Cardinals have filled their roster with we would be more scary and thus would be the favorites. =;

And I can also assure you that Waukegan sucks far, far worse than St. Louis. Or pretty much anywhere else not named North Chicago.

The Cubs are quite capable of beating themselves, but yu're taking it a bit too literal. :D

I assume that fellow was under the influence of INBEVANHEISBUSCHENWEISER products last night. I even ran that through a Cards Talk filter and it still made little sense.
