Steve Stone is reporting the same. (not that Stone would know more than Kap, but still).

I wonder how much of the contract the Tigers would want the Cubs to eat and what type of prospects or players the Cubs could get in return. If the Cubs could swap Bradley and most of his contract and replace his contract with Dunn or Peavy or the like. I wouldn't complain.

1:41pm: ChicagoNow.com's David Kaplan has heard from "two very solid baseball sources" that the rumor is true.

As Kaplan writes, "the Tigers have scouted Bradley and are interested depending on how much of his contract the Cubs are willing to eat." A change of scenery would probably do the outfielder some good. He's currently batting .242/.375/.368 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 231 at-bats.

Just beat me to it. In terms of prospects, we wouldn't probably get much in return. They'd probably ask us to take on Ordonez.

I'd do that if they cover the difference in salary

I don't think that we would have to take Maggs back because there talking about us paying some of MB salary and Maggs makes like 18 mil this year i think.

Why would we do that, and why would they do that?

Well I guess we could put Fox and Hoff in a platoon. But we better be getting something good back. Selling low on somebody with as much talent as Bradley is a bad idea.

Posted that in the game thread, this is a better place for it. Taking back Ordonez wouldn't bother me at all assuming that his option years don't vest.

I think Kaplan heard from the same sources the Cubs are looking to acquire Dunn if they can unload Bradley. Sign me up. Should've signed Dunn in the first place.

As much as a fan of the signing MB I was, this would please me very much. Defensively they'll give you about the same, but offensively it would be an appropiate answer to the Cards getting Holliday.

but one scout who is here at the game today just told me that he would never want Dunn on his team because he does not think he is a winning type of player.

oh please.

Well. That would change everything.

Yeah, that would be a massive upgrade and would free up even more money in 2011.

FWIW. Friday on his radio show, Kaplan talked to Will Caroll and Caroll mentioned Adam Dunn as someone he would go after if he were the Cubs, but he had not heard anything about the Cubs making a run at Dunn.

Yeah, there's no way I'd want the Cubs to do this deal unless they can get a solid bat back in return.

Don't trade Milton midseason just for the sake of trading him.

My retort would be.....and Milton Bradley is?

That seems to be an excuse for not trading for Dunn, instead of a rational reason. If they don't like his defense, just admit it but don't use some crock excuse that Dunn isn't a "winning type of player", cause you don't know seeing as he has played for a crappy Cincy tean, an underachieving D'backs, and Super Crappy Nationals team in his career.
