I really wish we could go back two years and give Deng's money to Gordon.

I really wish we could go back then and trade Deng when his value was sky high. I think we could have gotten a superstar for him and an expiring after 06-07.

Then you probably wouldn't have Rose.

Why trade Kirk? He is one of the best reserve guards in the league.

Because $10M is a lot to pay a reserve guard, especially if you're trying to add an impact PF like Bosh or Amare.

And who wants an overpaid guard? Bosh and Amare aren't getting traded this offseason. How many more years does Kirk have under his contract?

For the Bulls (if they re-sign Gordon), he'd be a backup at both G spots for $10M. If you get him on another team, he's a decent starter with some playoff experience. Hinrich is a pretty good player. Granted, you can play a 3 or 4 G lineup, but it's not necessary on the Bulls to have a reserve G that good when you have 2 guys in the rotation ahead of him who are 40 mpg guys.

Some of my goals this offseason for the Bulls:

1) Resign Ben Gordon

2) Find suitors for Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, and possibly Luol Deng. Try to deal for a Bosh/Amare.

3) Make Lindsey Hunter an assistant coach especially if Bickerstaff heads to Sacramento. Derrick seemed to have a good connection with Lindsey and he can help him with his defense.

I bet none of those happen. Why trade Kirk? He is one of the best reserve guards in the league.

Agreed. He's a little overpaid, but what's done is done. If you re-sign Gordon and trade Hinrich, your only players 1-3 are Rose, Gordon, Salmons, Deng. Four guys at three positions isn't going to work.

Who says they can't get another player or two? They'd have to get somebody in a trade. They have 2 first round picks. Run of the mill guards who can you some valuable PT in spurts are always available, see Shannon Brown in LA, Flip Murray in ATL.

It sure would have sucked to have Pao Gasol instead of Deng and Thomas this year

If we ended up trading for Gasol then we probably wouldn't have Derrick Rose now. Yeah butterfly effect.

Might just me, but if I was looking to cash in on as big of a contract as possible I wouldn't say anything but positive things about anybody involved with any NBA team.

Not that I think BG doesn't like Rose, I haven't really followed the Bulls that closely this year and that's the first I've even heard it talked about.

While accepting Lebron's shoes, I hope Urlacher was extolling Chicago's virtues.

Good. I like the guy but he's very expendable especially if Noah keeps improving.

I don't get the Thomas and Noah being too similar arguments. Who cares? Look at a team like Denver. Kenyon Martin and Andersen are similar long, athletic, high energy, limited offensive game players. Nene gives them some strength and stability inside, but I think that's where a guy like Blair could come in and help secure a board when the other 2 are flying all over the place.

I think you only trade Tyrus in a package to get a great scoring big man like Bosh or Amare. If you can't get a great big, I think you go into 2010 looking for a great 2 or 3 (Joe Johnson) and follow the Denver equation of a strong 1-2-3, and athletic 4-5.

DO IT!

http://www.rumorpress.net/

There is a possibility Shaquille O’Neal could be in a Chicago Bulls uniform next season. In a rather surprising discovery, the Phoenix Suns aoneal.jpgnd Bulls plan on engaging in trade talks that could send the future hall of fame center to Chicago, as soon as teams are allowed to talk after the playoffs. Suns GM Steve Kerr is looking to deal Shaq and is said to be interested in Loul Deng. The Suns would like to move the aging center mainly because he has slowed the up-tempo Suns down drastically. They feel Deng could bring some young, athletic energy back to the team. The Suns also feel Deng could still live up to his potential and contract if he can stay healthy.

The Bulls apparently will listen to the potential idea at the very least. However, Chicago fears that O’Neal will slow down the Bulls young, up-tempo style of play (with the Bulls already having a slow moving, aging center on the team in Brad Miller). On the other hand, the Bulls would love to get rid of Loul Deng’s huge contract, especially with the emergence of John Salmons and with their hopes to resign Ben Gordon. In addition, Shaq’s contract expires at the end of next season, freeing up even more money for 2010. The Bulls also feel Shaq could be a good influence on the young big men and could fit temporarily for one season as a low post presence. The trade would likely be O’Neal for Deng, Tim Thomas and Jerome James (assuming James exercises his player option) Look for the Suns and Bulls to at least toy around with the idea.

Do it without even thinking about it. Anything to get out of Dengs contract is a no brainer at this point.

Shaq has a gigantic expiring contract as well. We could end up having a ton of money for the potential 2010 sweepstakes. And plus having Shaq for a year won't be too bad of a thing. He can still put up 18-20 PPG and grab rebounds.

Lord, that chick is hotter than everyone I'll ever get with combined. Good bag, Joakim.

Really? I'm not much for silicon beach balls attached to a woman's chest...

You have to make that deal

Yea if that deal is for real, the Bulls should be jumping without hesitation. Getting rid of Dengs contract, getting Shaqs expiring deal, and getting a legit big guy who is still productive should be as no brainer as it can get.

Man, it's too bad the Bulls got rid of JR Smith for nothing. Basically he fits every category of the 2 guard you want playing next to Rose. Big, can defend, can stroke it from 3, and his decision making/ball handling/play making has really improved.

http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/The_Baseline/entry/view/24793/slim_blair_turns_heads_at_draft_combine

CHICAGO -- Look out for DeJuan Blair. If anyone made an impact on the first day of the NBA’s combine here, it was Blair. That’s because, when he stepped on the scale this morning for his official weigh-in, he registered at 275, an astounding 40 pounds less than the 315 he was at just four weeks ago, when he began working out at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. In fact, Blair said that when he worked out for Phoenix just three days ago, he was 289.

Fourteen pounds in three days? “I called my mom after the weigh-in,” Blair said. “She said, ‘Did you cut your leg off?’”

This draft is thin on power forwards once you get past surefire No. 1 pick Blake Griffin and Jordan Hill, who is likely to go in the top seven. The two knocks on Blair -- who averaged 15.7 points and 12.3 rebounds this year at Pittsburgh -- are his height and his weight. But, thanks to some intense badgering from his nutritionist and a high-protein, low-carb diet, weight no longer seems to be a problem.

“I haven’t been this slim since the 10th grade,” Blair said. “I blew up, but now I am back down. I like where I am. Trust me, I am not going to blow up again.”

The issue that remains for Blair, though, is height. He was measured, he said, at 6-6.5, which is a couple of inches below where most NBA personnel execs would like. But his wingspan was measured at 7-2, and when asked which player was the best rebounder in the draft, Blair did not hesitate: “Me,” he said. “I really believe I am.”
