Ehhhh....

Good job by Illinois in the 2nd half.

IU will get there, slowly.

Your missing your best player.

I know.

It doesn't show in the W/L column, but watching this year's team has been enjoyable. There are at least signs of light with this team. I don't think Crean is god by any stretch, but he's building the program up incrementally.

Mike Tisdale sure didn't look good early..... but he ends up with more points than any two Indiana players, having made more free throws than the whole Indiana team.

Go Illini, Go !!

The lull in recruiting now is scary, but he gets his kids to play hard.

In other news, Notre Dame storms out to a 20 point lead by going off for 75 percent shooting in the first half and holds on for dear life to edge out West Virginia 70-68. Although probably an undeserved win, it's a colossal one for tourney hopes. 3-1 in the Big East, and if they can somehow split the Cincy/Syracuse games next week they'd be looking ok.

Pomeroy had this one at 77-72 Illinois, so technically we outperformed the stats.

Of course, Maurice Creek is included in those stats. I won't complain about any Big Ten road wins(except for Iowa, we should beat them by 92), but damn

If we can solve Taylor Battle we could be sitting pretty in the Big Ten. But, can't see us beating any of the top 3.

I think we can beat Wisconsin or Purdue at home.

I hope you're right. I don't see the Purdue one at all though.

So I guess the question becomes, how do we get this kind of effort from the team in both halves. I'm willing to accept that random chance allows for a terrible half followed by a great half (or vice-versa), but this seems to be a clear pattern. It's not just guys missing jumpers, it's not just some bad bounces, it's a complete lack of defensive intensity, and no real flow to the offense. Then it's as if they just flip a switch and they play like a Big Ten title contender.

Any ideas what's going on here?

I've never seen anything like it. Not sure, but the answer isn't Jeff Jordan and Billy Cole getting more minutes. That's for sure.

Get them some hookers before the game to wake them up.

MJ should be able to help with that. Although that might be a violation.

I generally agree but watching those final 8 minutes tonight was torture and not at all enjoyable.

Mike Hall is just the worst.

You bite your tongue.

Really happy Mizzou got this win. Hopefully they can stay hot and win two winnable road games, because I'd like a 3-1 start and we aren't winning in Lawrence. Also, Frank Martin is a crazy person, he smacked a player today. He did go on a nice diatribe on Mizzou's behalf(it's a smack in the face they aren't picked to do anything while Villanova gets picked to be a Final 4 team), so that was nice of him.

Was 1940 a Helms title?

Tourney started in the last 30s I believe. I know they have 5 "legit" titles

First tournament was 1939. IU has five real titles and didn't (evidently) retroactively make a contemporary trophy for themselves of a fictitious championship (not an Illinois dig, just so there is no confusion).

I don't think we even made a trophy, we didn't hang a banner. I don't think anyways.
