his leg was snapped in half.... he'll never be at 100% again. It was Theisman-esque, maybe worse

Worst part of the video is the announcers saying that they think he got an elbow or something to the throat then after watching for 5 seconds say that it is actually a rolled ankle.

How do the announcers not know what's going on when their cameras showed a still shot of his leg snapped for like 5 seconds?

"I think he may have rolled an ankle"

I am an Aggie and was watching the game as the injury happened. It took me several seconds to realize what had happened to D-Ro's leg. I knew sonething wasn't right, but my brain couldn't process it right away. I had a hard time sleeping that night. Derrick Roland is a great kid and a very hard worker. I hate to see that kind of injury happen to anyone, but especially someone like him. Luckily a doctor was sitting behind the UW bench. He came right out and had the leg back in place & stabilized within 10 seconds or so. The said it was a clean break similar to what Kenyon Marton had many years ago, so hopefully a full recovery is likely.

Henrik Larson had a similar injury about 8 years ago playing for Celtic, and did manage to recover fully. I still have the picture of him in mid air and his leg bent in 4 places in my head, Peter Schmeichel the goalie for ManU said he had to go to therapy after witnessing it right in front of him. Anyways after about 18 months he came back and scored 50 goals in all competitions his next full season. So it is possible to comeback.

Roland is a senior, so barring any kind of medical redshirt his Texas A&M career is done. Hopefully he can play overseas in a year or two if that's what he wants to do. He actually apologized to one of his teammates for getting hurt and not being able to finish the game.

and there's two trainers attending to his upper body, while his knees are up and his lower shin is dangling at 90 degrees. my understanding is that its a good thing its in the middle of the bones and away from a joint.

Pyrrhic victory for IU tonight. They dominate Bryant but freshman star Maurice Creek is carted off the court on a stretcher with an apparent knee injury.

Edit: I didn't see the extent of the injury live. From online pictures, looks like an obvious dislocated patella, Crean says immediate surgery.

Crap.

Out for the season and has played too many games to qualify for a medical redshirt. That blows. He was having a very good year.

Wow. That really sucks. At one point, he was the leading freshman scorer in the nation. Easily the team's best player so far. Worst part is it takes away a year of development of all the young guys playing a full conference season together.

We were down by 2 at half to Indiana State (went on a 9 minute scoreless drought) before scoring 44 points in the second half to win 70-52. That's definitely a good start to conference play in getting a win against an improved Indiana State team.

Scoring 44 points in a half is something I could get used to as well.

Had courtside seats tonight. Iowa played well for most of the night but really wore down in the second half. Purdue didn't play well in the first half but it didn't seem like it was because they were disinterested. Just didn't hit some shots and weren't sharp.

Purdue may be the most annoying team in the league, nay the country. Or at least they are when you have Ted "The Hammer" Valentine bending you over. Seriously they should be called for 2 fouls every possession. MSU is super physical also but nothing like PU. Then when they do finally get called for it, they whine more than anyone. It's just not basketball.

I love watching Moore, Johnson and Hummel play and they carry themselves well. Kramer is a douche, Barlow was a total punk jawing all night when he didn't do ish and Keaton Grant has always bugged me.

I pretty much agree about Kramer. Barlow definitely has some growing up to do, but I have to keep reminding myself that he's just a freshman. Hopefully, Painter can straighten him out a bit as the year goes on. Grant, however, has always struck me as a class act.

This team is going to struggle with foul trouble all season. Much of that is due to their aggressive defensive style, but some is due to some of the young players just not understanding that you have to move your feet on defense. Bade, Barlow, and Smith need to get better at that. Johnson's a shot blocker, so he's always in danger of getting into foul trouble.

And not everyone on Purdue's team whines when a foul is called. 90% of that is Kramer. I do think that Kramer plays great defense, but he needs to realize that when you're that aggressive, you're going to get called for fouls. Two of the fouls called on Grant last night were of the phantom variety. Barlow is lucky that he hasn't fouled out of a ton of games already. He's a hack machine.
