shaw and blackshear can go to hell. if they're too good for the illini then fine, we have the best player in the state out of that class already. i'm not really too high on randle. beal and thompson are the keys to the class. if we get them, we're top 10.

Isn't Beal all but a lock for Florida? I also thought that Thompson wants to go play with Michelle Obama's brother in Oregon St. But, yeah I am not too worried we got the point guard. There is a lot of talent in state to plug in around him and still get a very good class for '11.

i don't think beal's a lock for anywhere, yet. as far as thompson, once he realizes he'd be going to oregon state, i think he'll reconsider doing the obama thing. unless his grades are seriously oregon state-type grades.

Hopefully Tom Crean can land Kyrie Irving. \:D/

I'm setting my Indiana expectations for this season at 12-14 wins. Maybe they can surprise me. Key thing is Maurice Creek being eligible......still waiting on that front although Crean has said both Creek and Bawa are "doing what they need to do" to make it.

Cal being ranked ahead of Washington is a joke. Their front court is softer than Mark Prior in the prime of his wussiness.

And UCLA not in the top 40? Ouch.

Holy crap Dick Vitale is drinking the Orange and Blue of the Illini. Wow, he has Illinois ranked #10 in his preseason top 40!

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/dickvitale/news/story?id=4361336

That's either way too high, or college bball is gonna be way down this year.

Yea thats basically what I was thinking.

I like our team, but I don't think we are that good yet. Next year should be when we get back in that range.

Dick Vitale is not someone you want on your side

He pretty much picks the correct champion every year. Every year after the National Title game he picks the next years matchup and he is pretty accurate. FWIW.

Isiah Thomas has landed his 1st big time recruit. The number 16 player in the country, Dominique Ferguson, has chosen Florida International. Its going to be interesting to see how many top guys Isiah can grab.

Wasn't this a guy IU was after?

Yea, and he was committed to Kentucky before Gillespie left.

I'm kinda suprised that Isiah would go after a guy IU had targeted.

I dunno, just thought he played for them and all. I know Roy Williams while at Kansas wouldn't touch guys that UNC was after.

Isiah Thomas isn't exactly a high character guy. I don't really see an issue with it anyway, it could actually turn into a decent strategy for him, kids that want to buy into the Bloomington [expletive] he can point out to them that he was there when it meant something, that present day IU isn't the IU he knew and loved. Come play for a real IU guy.

Oh I don't take issue with it either, just was kinda suprised. Although, like you say, Isiah was never a big character guy anyways and he only stayed at IU for like 2 years anyways.

I actually think Isiah is going to do pretty well at FIU. Even though Isaiah's name credibility has taken a hit lately, hes still Isiah Thomas, IU legend, and NBA Hall of Famer. Add that to recruiting high school kids to a Florida campus, and it has the makings of a pretty good sell to high school kids.

I wonder how well he will coach. He did draw up plays for Eddy Curry to shoot threes while at New York.

Check the first play out. Here Eddy have the ball with under 5 seconds to go down 3. ](*,) Of course he id make it.

I think Crean went after him pretty hard but I never read anything that led me to believe he was all that likely to end up at IU. From what I recall Ferguson was letting his dad handle the recruiting process for him so it was a bit of a mystery as to what was going to happen.

yeah, that courtesy doesn't extend to KU now that he's at UNC. Grr.
