Sonic has good burgers

I've never once had a good burger or any other non ice cream related item from sonic.

Burger king, is awful. Wendy's is even worse.

I know it's strange and petty, but I don't like Wendy's because they use non-bleached bread (it's yellow!!) and the patties are square.

Yes, those are my reasons for not eating there.

The only reason to eat at Wendy's is the Frosty.

And it is an awesome reason.

I'll agree with that. The Frosty is great.

Wendy's fries are way better than BK or McD's

McD's fries are the best, BK's burgers are the best, but Wendy's burgers are the best that are cheap.

Went to the Sunday game (really thought Soto was going to come through in the 9th ... disappointing #-o) and made the trek to Five Guys in Lincoln Park afterward. It was a great experience!

The place is easy to find, just a short drive down Clybourn from the DeVry parking lot. We managed to get a parking spot in front and the place was busy but not crazy. Decor was interesting - red and white checkerboard, lots of signs touting their numerous positive reviews, stacks of sacked potatoes serving as aisle markers leading you to the counter. Having read posts on here and the Five Guys website, I knew the menu and the basic procedure.

I went with the standard cheeseburger (w/ lettuce, mayo, mustard - I'm not a big veggies-on-burgers guy), drink and regular fries. The cashier was very nice and polite while taking our order. My female compadre selected the little cheeseburger, plain, also with drink and fries. She scoped out a seat while I stood by the pickup area and munched peanuts.

Food arrived reasonably quickly, and very hot. As mentioned in other posts here, the fries were overflowing in the bag. Burgers were wrapped in foil and prepared as ordered, and we both agreed that they were very juicy and delicious. The buns complemented the burgers well, although being wrapped in foil causes them to soften considerably - some people might not like the slightly "mushy", squished-bun result but it didn't bother me at all.

After letting them cool off a bit, the fries were also great, if a bit too salty for my taste. They really are thick homemade fries with the skin left on, totally unlike the frozen, bagged potatoes available from most quick serve joints.

The end result was that we both quickly devoured the grub, and I even went back up and indulged in a second cheeseburger (that's four patties of beefy, cheesy goodness consumed in total!). Along with the peanuts and multiple refills on soda, we were both pleasantly stuffed and ready to collapse into the car for the trip home. As we cruised down I-55, it was decided that Five Guys is now our regular post-game stop, win or lose.

I've recently started going to Five Guys as it's now like 5 min from where I live, and it's freaking awesome. The fries are amazing and the burgers are very good.

It's a tough call for me between them and In n out, as the only times I have it are when I go to Vegas. They're damn good but I'd need to have them more often to really form an opinion.

I don't have any of the places you are talking about unfortunately. The best fast food burger I think I've had is Checkers (or Rally's depending on your location).

Slugger's had a really good burger back in the day

Agreed. Their BBQ bacon cheese burger was pretty tasty. Stupid flood.

You should start taking a look at some of the weight loss threads as a preemptive measure then.

Does anyone remeber Burger Chef's? They had the best kids meals back in the day.

I remember Burger Chef. They had what I thought was the best bacon cheeseburger. They got bought out by Hardees.

I should have stopped at Five Guys while in Chicago.

Instead, I went to Boston Blackie's and had it re-affirmed for me that there is no better burger anywhere else.

We're talking fast food burgers here, not a "real restaurant." Pretty much any steakhouse-type place that serves burgers trounces any of these choices or Five Guys.

That's the one I was thinking of. The owners' daughter was in my hs graduating class. Good times
