If you touch the umpire, you've gotta go as far as I'm concerned. Incidental or not.

if the bill of your cap touches the bill of the umps cap?

Yes. You can't touch the ump. It's really a simple, hard and fast, reasonable rule.

The joke of it all is that all they'll review is the fight and not the 2 balls that were called strikes in that at-bat.

Exactly. If they review the whole thing, Bradley made his point and then the ump made his. No harm, no foul.

No reason to appeal. Just serve it while he's still missing games because of the groin issue.

And since the ump decided to file a report, the Cubs should file a report regarding the horribly called game by the umpiring crew.

With which Bud Selig would probably wipe his butt with.

Anybody see good ol Larussas comments regarding the Bradley strikeout and the teams reactions?

For a second consecutive day, Milton Bradley refused to talk about the third-strike argument that resulted in his ejection from Thursday’s game. Piniella backed his player, saying: “It didn’t look like a good pitch to me.” Cardinals manager Tony La Russa’s take: “I don’t know how the Cubs get away with making the comments they make about umpires.” Aside from that lone pinch-hitting appearance, Bradley hasn’t played since Sunday due to a groin injury.

Damn I hate Larussa

Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa said umpire Jerry Crawford has "made it a point to get us" and could cost the Cardinals games this season.

La Russa spoke after pitching coach Dave Duncan and C Mike Matheny were ejected in the third inning against the Astros on Saturday night -- a 2-0 loss in a crucial series.

Crawford was the home plate umpire Saturday night, and he ejected both Cardinals.

"We've had problems with that umpire for how many years now?" La Russa said. "We had one incident at home where he disrespected our coaches. He's made it a point to get us."

what was that, tony?

What's hilarious is that we never 'get away' with anything. It's well documented that any time we have a possible suspension issue in the last five years or so that we get screwed worse than any reasonable prediction. See: Kerry Wood 2004, Dusty Baker 2004, Lou Piniella 2007, and plenty other examples that I can't immediately think of right now.

oh i remember la russa bitching about umpiring so i figure i just had to find one example to make him look like a huge hypocrite.

He's constantly barking at umps from the dugout.

Cut LaRussa some slack. He had a few cold ones after the game and misspoke. It can happen! http://timesfour.com/x4graemlins/icon_beer.gif

According to MLB Network, Bradley has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount.

Are you effing kidding me? Screw MLB what a bunch of dumbasses.

Tribune confirms the suspension. Its amazing how fast this came down, compared to Beckett earlier, and other suspensions in previous years. 2 days. Screw MLB

The release from the commissioner's office said, "Bradley aggressively argued balls and strikes and made contact with umpire Larry Vanover."

Bradley's appealing on principle, but I wish the Cubs would tell him he's hurting the team by appealing. He isn't in the lineup today according to the article, and if he just got suspended he could be back in the lineup after the off day on Monday. He could probably use the two extra days to make sure he's healthy anyway and so there's no reason to delay a possible suspension until later in the season when he is both more healthy and hitting well.

fwiw, the third strike clipped the zone according to gameday. it's hard to bitch at the umpire on a pitch like that.

who cares if hes out two games. he's hurt as it is.

Gamedays wrong

Yea I understand what you are saying, but Im assuming Bradley thinks he can either get it down 1 game and use that 1 game later on in the year against somebody like the Nationals or somebody, and not against Stl.

Agreed. The screenshot below was from a couple innings later, and it was on a call that no one thought twice about. I've never compared gameday to live pitching, since I only watch it when live pitching isn't an option, but I can't imagine it's a very reliable source for such a thing.
