Stats and slash line are not synonymous.

Obviously, and davell may not have done the best job expressing what he meant. That said, there are things that cannot be gleaned from any amount of statistics or statistical analysis. Those things can only make us feel better about poor statistical performance for so long, but I feel we're still well inside that window with Almora.

If people who know their [expletive] say they're not worried about him, I'll take some comfort in that. For now.

what makes you think stupid jason parks is one of those people though? how many times do you think he's actually seen almora this year?

You guys are stroking Kyle's doom boner so hard he's likely spilt his everyone-sucks-until-they-don't seed all over his house.

Almora is finished after struggling in 1/3 of a season in A ball. The sky is falling, etc.

Is Parks the only one who's said that they're not worried about Almora?

As far as I know, Parks and Epstein are the only ones to comment, and Epstein isn't exactly motivated to tell the truth.

Well I don't hold Parks in the highest of regard, so I'd be curious to hear what others have to say. Still, I'm pretty far from legitimate concern over Almora.

Law said this yesterday:

Eric W (New York) Almora might have great makeup, but right now he's hitting an awful .241/.264/.317 at Daytona. Cause for concern?

Klaw Concerned about the lack of walks, yes. He'll have to find an actual approach at some point soon.

Jim Callis, someone whose opinion I care about a lot more than Jason Parks', is still high on Almora.

@jimcallisMLB: Can argue as high as 3, no lower than 6. I'd put him at 4. @rybarnes4: Where would Kyle Schwarber fit into the @Cubs prospect ranks?

@jimcallisMLB: He's young, still have him ahead of Schwaber. @jurb221: what do you make of Almora's low average? Has he dropped below Schwarber? @Cubs

@jimcallisMLB: Bryant, Baez, Almora. @sahadevsharma: who do you have at 3? @Cubs

RotoWorld had a mention of Vogelbach yesterday. They mentioned he was really having a tough go of things against lefthanders this season.

I don't know where to look for previous season splits. Has he had trouble with lefties in the past or is this new?

didn't I just read someone else saying he hardly ever throws anything over 89?

it was keith law, but he may have just been annoyed that someone asked him a question about a baseball player and not a dorky board game

Congrats to Smokies OF Rubi Silva for being named the Southern League's Hitter of the Week! http://atmilb.com/1pEv0Th

Seems like he's be in AA forever. If he could learn to take a walk he could be interesting.

He's just too old, not gonna happen.

Michael Labella-Starkey (Grand Finale): Is Kris Bryant more of a 20 or 30 homerun guy?

i just have to laugh again at this guy's question. bryant is getting toward the high end of his range of bryant home run possibilities, and it's still JUNE.

David (Malibu): I know you've seen Kane County some this year. How optimistic should Cub fans be on Tseng, Blackburn, Torrez, and Underwood?

Jordan Gorosh: Tseng is the best pitching prospect in the Cubs organization, above Pierce Johnson for me. He features a 91-94 MPH fastball with plus command projection, and two solid average secondary offerings in a true curveball and change up. He's extremely polished for a 19 year old kid, and could be a low 3, high 4 type.

Blackburn I've seen a few times, and have come away underwhelmed. The FB works mostly in the 89-91 range, and I don't see much velo projection left, as the arm isn't very quick. The pitch flattens when it's elevated, and he's more of a sinker baller He has a curve that projects to be around average, but it's not a bat misser. The delivery is simple and repeatable, but he looks to be more of a command/control back of the rotation guy.

Paul (DC): Obligatory Javier Baez 'what the hell?' question.

Jordan Gorosh: Baez is a high risk, high reward profile. Of course, you're currently seeing the low end of the spectrum, but there's no reason to lose hope. Baez has franchise altering power, and assuming the hit tool can play average, he's going to be extremely valuable. There are certainly some questions about his approach, but I think the realistic slash line looks similar to Nelson Cruz. On the left side of the infield, that's outstanding.

The best pitching prospect in our organization has a low 3/high 4 upside? Woof. Though I think many have higher opinions of Tseng here than that.
