Sad day for baseball, losing another of its classic voices. There aren't too many left. I feel that his kind of announcing (and Brickhouse's, Harry Caray's, etc) is a dying breed.

Have a beer with Harry up there, Mr. Kalas. You've earned it.

Died in the broadcast booth. Sad as it is, probably appropriate.

Probably how he wanted to go.

At least he didn't croak on the air.

And they won the WS last year. Pretty good way to end his career, I think.

Wow, that sucks. I remember when I was working second-shift a few years back... I got the MLB audio package and would listen to Kalas, Scully, Uecker and others when the Cubs weren't playing.

The Puppy Bowl will never be the same.

RIP; I enjoyed Harry even though I'm not a Phillies fan. I heard him more on the NFL Films programs.

i'm not a phillies fan but having lived in south jersey most of my life, i've heard by far more games called by harry kalas than by any other announcer. he had a wonderful voice and a great way of passing the game along to the fans. the phillies used to be on a pay tv station back in the 80s so i would listen to a lot of games on my clock radio.

i will miss him a lot.

He was an Iowa grad. This sucks. His voice was awesome.

He was one of my favorites - can't believe I didn't know he was an Iowa grad until I heard it on the radio today.

Another one of the radio greats has passed away. When Vin Skully goes, that will be the end. Everyone after Carey, Jack Buck, Kallas and Skully are hacks.

Totally LAME

Dude, that's uncool.

Oh, please. I hate this ridiculous "it was better in my day!" sentiment.

Pat Hughes is a hack? Bob Uecker?

It's kind of ridiculous to say that it will be 'the end' of great announcers.
