Where the hell was Marmol? Its his job to clean up everyones mess and K the side. Anytime last year hed be pitching in that situation

He's gotta be hurt. There is absolutely no reason to use your closer in a tie game on the road. Unless Marmol already won the closers job back from Gregg.

Of course you use your closer. Once you get to the 9th inning every inning is a save situation. Saving a good reliever for when you get the lead is a good way to lose before you get one.

I missed most of the game. What happened to Soto?

He attempted to throw out a runner in the 3rd I believe, he finished the inning behind the plate, but then Hill was back out there the next inning and they said he left with shoulder tightness/pain from attempting to throw the runner out. I would guess this early in the year it's more precautionary than anything, but you know it's the Cubs...

Not to nitpick, but your original wording implied that the runner was unsuccessful in stealing against Soto, who was working in very mysterious ways last night. Also, IIRC, he stuck around another couple innings and even batted again before being lifted.

And apparently the Astros win the pennant in the 2nd game of the season!!!!

Losing to Assblows is one thing but, their acting like they just won the WS is really annoying most especially on the back of dribblers through the infield. In addition to the Cubs winning the WS I'd like to see them:

1. Beat Randy Johnson

2. Beat the incongruous blob known as Valverde in a save situation

Sour grapes.

What team doesn't celebrate when they get a walkoff win?

Teams celebrate, but to that extent? And in the same game you had Pence (or whoever it was) clap his way down the first base line on a walk and Valverde nearly walk off the field on the first out of an inning? That was quite over-the-top.

Doesn't Crazy Eyes always do weird things like that every outing? He does it all the time and against everybody so I don't see the point in complaining about him.

He does stuff, but nearly walking off the field seemed a bit exaggerated.

He took 2-3 steps off the mound towards the 1B line and then bent over after each of the the first 2 outs. He didn't "nearly walk off the field." In al honesty, it was far more reserved than how he used to flip out on the mound over each out.

And again, since when do we begrudge a team for celebrating a walkoff? Everyone does it, no matter when the game is.

It was more than 2-3 steps. I'm not begrudging anything. I just said that combined with Valverde's over the top antics and whoever it was clapping himself up to first on the walk, it was a bit much.

What I meant was, using the closer before using Marmol. If Gregg gets out of the 10th and the Cubs get the lead in the top of the 11th, then Lou uses Marmol to save. Seems out of order to me.

It's completely true, you wet blanket.

You aren't the only person to pretend that nonsense has value, so I won't hold it against you, or any other knuckle dragging WWE fans. But it's really idiotic to think something like that helps a sport.

A, he doesn't pump his fist

B, I was pointing out how ridiculous it is to suggest baseball is better off with such antics, didn't say anything about hindering.

C -::: - + _ : he does pump his first, i saw him do it last night...or maybe it is more technical to say "fist clench"

d =+:::; if you think it is ridiculous that...baseball...although you said sports...wouldn't be better with such antics...then that would lead one to believe that it would be worse...possibly creating a hindrance...

Value?

What are you talking about?

My comment was clearly tongue in cheek in how over the top it was (why would anyone seriously think a weird reliever "makes baseball better" and how would that even mke any sense?) and referring to how I find his quirks entertaining. Weird, "crazy" players have always been around and they entertain me regardless of who they play for.

Though classy move on your part declaring me to be an idiot and a wrestling fan just becase Valverde offends your delicate senibilities and someone else dares to not be annoyed by him.

So now you admit what you said was untrue?

There was no truth or untruth to it in the first place, but hell, if you want to play it that way, yes, I definitely think baseball is always better off having a few really weird players scattered around for entetainment-value.

We get it, you don't like teams celebrating a walkoff win against the Cubs and you don't like Valverde. Other people don't mind the former since every team celebrates a walkoff or actually even get a kick out of a really weird player.
