Our range on the left side of the infield is absolutely horrible. That's 2 double play balls that weren't even touched by the infield.

Aaron Miles isn't a SS. He's barely a 2B.

The sooner Lou realizes this the better

I loss itself stings but it doesn't bother me that much. It's the second game and we're the best team in the Central. If we miss the playoffs it won't be because of this game.

This sucks...the game is on WGN so we won't get postgame live to hear Lou's press conference. I want to hear how hurt Marmol is.

??? Marmol is hurt now, too?

And apparently the Astros win the pennant in the 2nd game of the season!!!!

Just imagine if Valverde would've saved it!!!!

Where was Miles on that one, was the MI back?

That ball wasn't hit that hard, even if he picks it up i don't see them turning the DP. That said, i would liked to have seen them try.

I was thinking the MI was in, when I saw the ball off the bat it looked like it was in the general SS area when the INF is drawn in. I didn't see the MI back until they replayed it from a wider view. I was also assuming Aaron Miles is a MLB SS, which he isn't....

Where the hell was Marmol? Its his job to clean up everyones mess and K the side. Anytime last year hed be pitching in that situation

He's gotta be hurt. There is absolutely no reason to use your closer in a tie game on the road. Unless Marmol already won the closers job back from Gregg.

He threw 25 pitches last night. If he would've come in and thrown 25 tonight people would have complained about that also

It was only the (expletive) second game of the season. Stop overreacting! 160 games left after todays game.

Who is overreacting? People are taking the loss quite well actually.

I'm only worried about Soto and Marmol. I don't really care about the loss.

So far this year, 2 concerns I had - the starting pitching and the bullpen have been pretty damn awesome. The offense, which I'm not really concerned about at all, has been flat and ineffective. So far so good.

And that is what usually happens to start the year. No big deal.

You're only worried about Marmol because of one posters over reaction to him not being used. Had Marmol and Gregg both pitched today, theyd likely be out tomorrow , and wed be left with Vizcaino and Co.

so Marmol not coming in automatically means he's hurt? Or did I miss something?

We're Cubs fans. The team is expected to make the playoffs this year so we have to pick something else to freak out about.

He was basically going to be unavailable either today or tomorrow. Lou decided that Marmol would be off today.

Early in the season, Lou probably figured he didn't want Marmol to throw again today so early in the season after throwing 25 last night.

Yeah the last 2 years this offense, which is pretty much the same as the last 2 seasons, have been pretty slow starters and then they have really picked it up by end of April/Mid May, so I am not to worried either. Dempster pitched effectively tonight, not great but I'll take that every 4th day, with a lot of people calling for a regression out of him he looked pretty close to his 08' form. All he really needs to do is tighten up his location a little bit as he had good movement on all of his pitches.

good point. Hopefully it's just Lou figuring out that it's OK to use TWO pitchers instead of completely abusing the same one over and over.

The only things worth worrying about right noiw are Soto, who Im guessing will end up sitting out tomorrow and be back in time for the Milwauke series and Ted Lilly in his early season form turing Minute Maid or Tropicana(I always confuse the 2) into a launching pad.

I missed most of the game. What happened to Soto?

He threw out a runner in the 3rd I believe, he finished the inning behind the plate, but then Hill was back out there the next inning and they said he left with shoulder tightness/pain from throwing the runner out. I would guess this early in the year it's more precautionary than anything, but you know it's the Cubs...
