In all honesty, this is the least excited I've ever been for opening day. We'll see if it changes before Monday.

Same here. I'm not sure if it's just the heartbreak of the past two years or if there are other factors.

Agree.

I'm really underwhelmed with excitement for tomorrow. I mean, sure it'll be nice to watch Cubs baseball again (maybe), but I can hardly say I'm excited.

What a bunch of sucks. It's baseball, for God's sake. Stop embarassing yourselves.

I didn't say I wasn't excited, just not as excited as I've been the past several years. I think a lot of it is that I just haven't had as much time to follow spring training and such this year.

Let me reiterate here how much I hate the Astros.

I never gave them a 2nd thought until I moved to Texas. I almost want to embarrass them more than the Cards now.

And for all you Opening Day-excitement-evaluators out there, it's not like I'm sitting around whining about it being Opening Day, I'm just not jacked up for it like I usually am. Usually I'm counting down the days once Feb./March hits, but it kind of snuck up on me this year. Maybe my excitement will pick up as the day progresses. Or after that first inning Milton Bradley home run.

I'm going to go ahead and guess Missouri basketball had something to do with it.

The last few years, my excitement of opening day was tempered by the excitement of the Final Four (or the disappointment of losing in the F4 :().

Oswalt, especially.

Im pretty indifferent toward the Astros until the 9th inning. There are few players in baseball I despise more than Ole Crazy Eyes and his goofy little happy dances. I just hope Soriano hits a go ahead home run off of him and stands there admiring it for a half hour in one of the games.

Just being stationed with an Astros fan is enough to make me share the same sentiment. It has even taken a little bit of the edge of the '05 WS. I really, really want Z to repeat vvv that line score vvv

Well if he is a Tar Heels fan, your talking about a National Championship game vs. the first of 162 regular season games.

Or maybe he's about to win his bracket. In that case, $$$ vs. 1/162

This. I'm trading a Cubs loss for $140 every day until the playoffs start

Gametime: 6:05 central
Tipoff for the NC game isn't until like 8:20 central. If the Cubs game finishes up in 3 hours you won't miss any of it.

Strangely enough I think my excitement over the draft is tempering my baseball enthusiasm a bit. I'm normally into the draft quite a bit, but this year it's much more than normal.

Not sure why.

I coulda sworn FS Southwest and ESPN said it was a 5:05 central first pitch today... But I checked MLB.com just now and they're saying 6:05 CDT start.

maybe it was missouri basketball, i never really thought of that. the addition of cutler surely didn't put my mind on baseball, that i know. i still haven't watched derwood's video, so i'm going to do that when i get home and maybe it'll help a bit.

Did they even have a hometown team contest this year?

Oh, poo. I'm too late. I was gonna make a home team comment.

Not that I'm aware of. Last year, they switched to a mail-in ballot that had to be clipped from the paper. Not surprisingly, they had less than 100 total ballots turned in. I hardly ever get a paper as I read it online, so I don't know that they didn't do it that way again. My mom gets the paper daily though, and she didn't mention it, and she usually would. My guess is they did away with it. But who knows?

MLB.com has a Gameday Premium now. Is it worth it and does it come with MLB.tv?

Well it looks like they took the "video" option off of the regular gameday...so this doesn't really help you in your decision - but it sucks none the less.
