I've waited through the long, cold, depressing winter just to hear the crack of the bat again. I can't wait. And this is my son's first Opening Day as well. He'll be in his Cubs outfit and on my lap as we watch.

Baseball season is finally here and I couldn't be more stoked.

Let me be the first to say....

Win, idiots.

Same night as the NCAA basketball championship. The Cubs' game starts about two hours earlier, so I'll record the basketball game until the Cubs' game is over, then catch up with the basketball game by fast-forwarding through the commercials.

Wow, I'm pumped, nice work Derwood!

Lineup prediction?

Soriano

Fukudome (is Lou still going to follow through with him hitting second?)

Lee

Bradley

Ramirez

Fontenot

Soto

Theriot

Big Z

Z's 2 run bomb is the difference - Cubs win 5-4.

:banghead:

Nice planning by MLB. I guess I'll have to go split screen from the start of the basketball game to the end of the Cubs game.

Thank God the Cubs open on the road this year while the Sox open up in Chicago. Supposed to get up to 5 inches of snow Sunday night into Monday afternoon and the high will only be around 35ish. Won't feel like opening day at all but I'll manage :)

Btw long range forecasts have highs in the 60s and sunny next Monday.

Very good to hear. Let's hope it sticks or improves.

Most of the off-season I haven't been ready to get going with the 09 season, but the last couple of weeks have produced the same anxiety of any other season. Let's get this going.

Why are they starting so much later this year? The last couple years they started at 11 a.m. out here (1 p.m. central).

Everyone ready for the season? Are you ready to dominate? Be dominated? Ready to be on the winning end of a blowout? The losing end? Are you ready for the adrenaline of trailing all game only to come back and win late? The despair of leading all game only to lose it in the 9th? Are you ready to lose games we should have won? Win games we should have lost? Are you ready for the singles, the doubles, the triples, the longballs? The stolen bases, the throws from the outfield, the pickoff throws? The strikeouts, the walks, the balks, the hits? The exhilaration, the disappointment, the screaming, the silence? Are you ready?

Let's get it started. http://75.125.185.66/forums/classic_images/smilies/icon_gu_b_slayer.gif

So only about 3,000 people at US Cellular for opening day? Awesome!

I'm really glad it's a night game so I can actually watch it.

Everyone that can actually watch this game sucks. Screw you, stupid blackout rules.

Alright, something is wrong. I don't think I've recovered from the embarrassment that was last season's playoffs. I did not watch a single spring training game and I honestly didn't know opening day was Monday. What is wrong with me?
