I want to see if anything comes of this Orza guy from the Player's Union. Some players are saying he was telling players when their test would be and to 'make sure nothing shows up'.

One thing those who strongly feel these players cheated the game might consider would be that the game (those in charge, anyway) may be culpable of cheating itself, if that makes sense.

You have a Union that fought tooth and nail to keep testing out- and maybe people tipping players about upcoming tests. You have owners that had to at least suspect ignoring it. And, you have journalists closest to the game that had to at least suspect either ignore it or punk out about reporting it.

Look at the number of 50+ home runs season in the 60's and 70s compared to the steroid era - not even close even if you take out Brady (10 to 50) Anderson. Hasn't home run totals gone down a tad since drug testing began? Do you think all 104 of those positive tests were wrong? The steroid era was a joke.

So steroids are the sole reason there were more 50-homer seasons? Didn't have anything to do with smaller parks, better off-season and in-season training, use of video, better bats, etc.?

And I'm still wondering why people only talk about home runs when steroid use comes up. What about the vast number of pitchers that used? You want to discredit Bonds and A-Rod and the like for home runs they hit while juiced up. Are you going to give them extra credit for the years they were clean when they were hitting homers off pitchers that were on something?

Evidently, Selig is deciding whether or not to punish A-rod for using PEDs. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,491644,00.html ....when does Bud Selig get punished for having all of this transpire under his watch? Why and how does Selig still have this gig?

There's no way he could punish A-Rod without punishing any of the other 103 names that tested positive as well. The Player's Union would never allow it, and I doubt very much that any of the other players get punished, either.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Bud Selig says Alex Rodriguez has "shamed the game," though the baseball commissioner indicated no plans to punish the three-time American League MVP.

"I am saddened by the revelations," Selig said in a statement issued Thursday, four days after Rodriguez admitted he used unspecified drugs from 2001 to 2003 while playing for the Texas Rangers. "What Alex did was wrong, and he will have to live with the damage he has done to his name and reputation."

oh STFU bud

Well, it's not like he was commissioner of the sport when all this was happening and could have done something about it.

Oh, wait a minute. . .

Yeah, I really disagree with Bud saying A-Rod "shamed" the game. How about letting us know the other 103 players who "shamed" the game? I think it was wrong with A-Rod using steroids, but he was hardly the only player using them.

Seriously, how is Bud Selig's job not in jeopardy? How is it that the commissioner that reigns over the 'steroid era' (and gets paid handsomely to do so) gets a free pass without much media scrutiny?

Because it wasn't "the" steroid era. It was just the one with the best chemists.

Don't forget that he's not just paid handsomely, he's now paid even more handsomely with his recent raise.

I always grew up thinking you had to do great things to get a raise or promotion. Boy was I naive.

the value of mlb franchises has increased by over 150% since 1998, and since 1993 mlb's annual revenue has increased by more than 500%. look at those numbers - keeping in mind that bud selig is hired by the owners - and tell me why his job would be in jeopardy.

I just love the # of other players who are being interviewed on various TV and radio shows, all acting like A-Rod is some isolated case that we should all be ashamed of. If 103 other players also tested positive, there's a good chance that a lot of these interviewees are being huge hypocrites right now

Roy Oswalt is the biggest douche in the history of the douche bag. He's a bigger turd than Bono.

Hey Roy, you played with Caminetti, Clemens, Tejada, and Pettitte, not to mention the other guys we don't know about cough*Richard Hildalgo*cough. Your only world series appearance is an abomination you bumba-clot.

I sense you are holding back from expressing your true feelings.

Dilbert Principle

The Dilbert Principle refers to a 1990s satirical observation by Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams stating that companies tend to systematically promote their least-competent employees to management (generally middle management), in order to limit the amount of damage they're capable of doing. In the Dilbert strip of February 5, 1995 Dogbert says that "leadership is nature's way of removing morons from the productive flow".
