Apparently ESPN dug up the story on the incident at the bar and now Pacman's pissed at them.

Jones denied the report and told the Dallas Morning News: "It will be a lawsuit in a week against ESPN. That's stupid. It's so stupid I have no more comments."

how dare espn sully pacman's good name.

He is an upstanding citizen and all . . .

I think that's actually a valid defense against libel. A person whose reputation is so bad they are essentially libel-proof.

"He's such a bad citizen that nothing we say could make his image worse," essentially?

If you want to read an article you can get behind, take a look at http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2009/01/for-the-record-f-k-you-nbc-for-hiring-that-worthless-piece-of-s-t-matt-millen.html

oh and little kids might not want to read that.

I spent the better part of the last decade studying journalism (hence my not having a real job now), and the "it can't get any worse" libel defense is absolutely a valid one and would probably apply in this case.

if espn ran a story that said "pacman jones is a child molester" i have a feeling they would be in a little bit of trouble

Sure, because they lied. Saying true things about someone at a time that's inconvenient to them? Not so much.

If he was deemed to be a libel-proof plaintiff, he wouldn't be able to collect any libel damages. They'd be embarrassed professionally and ethically, but I think they'd be fine financially.

that's not at all what im talking about. saying that pacman in "libel proof" because he's punched a few guys in the face at a bar and gets drunk and stupid is not true at all.

It is true that they only blew out half of the teams they played this year, but if you take a closer look, they beat teams by more than 10 points 5 out of the 8 home games they played.

how did everyone miss this?

I didn't miss it. What exactly did you want me to say about it?

I didn't say he was libel-proof. I said if his reputation were bad enough, it wouldn't be.

His reputation isn't that bad yet.

I don't know. Just surprised no one mentioned anything.

Way to go LenDale...your fat butt carries the ball 4 times a game and you still manage to screw up.

The James Brown interview was pretty good. He was pretty tough on him. I have to think PacMan's career is over, regardless of what Jones thinks. If Jerry Jones doesn't want you, no one wants you. PacMan tried to say that he is a changed man, but no one really believes this.

James Brown: PacMan, what is it about strip clubs that draws you to them time and time again?

PacMan: Uhhhhh......

I about fell out of my chair when Brown asked him that.

i'm getting tired of hearing "this is the team you don't want to play." only a quarter of the nfl teams are left, other than the cardinals is there any team that you're like "boy this shouldn't be this difficult." pretty much everyone is the team you don't want to play.
