the giants are probably furious right now that they have to play a real team tomorrow while the #2 seed gets a bye.

Seriously....seeding in the NFL playoffs is weird.

I would guess more often than not, a crappy team wins a bad division while a superior wild card team finishes with a better record, leaving the #1 seed playing a better team.

yeah and it's not like you can really give the giants the option of choosing which team to play. no league does that and all that would do is piss off the cardinals.

since each division is only 4 teams you're really prone to getting at least one lousy team in the playoffs and then they get a home game, so they've got a decent chance to win. personally i think that the top 6 teams should just get in and then you seed them by record.

Which won't happen because it eliminates more teams from the playoffs earlier. $$$

yeah i wasn't clear on my point. i'm fine with each of the four division winners getting in (otherwise what's the point of having divisions?), but once you have the six teams that will be playing in the playoffs, i would seed them based purely on record. i don't think it's fair that the chargers got to host the colts and the cardinals hosted the falcons.

larry fitzgerald is so awesome.

I could've told you that Hightower was probably getting the ball on that play, but apparently the Carolina D didn't so much think so.

Letting the No. 1 seed choose it's second-round opponent would be *awesome*.

Simmons mentioned that idea on his podcast this week and I thought it was incredible. I can just imagine all the mileage the media could get out of all the Cardinals talking about how pissed they were that the Giants chose to play them.

ok i've started actively rooting for the cardinals, just in case the eagles win. that would be the craziest conference final ever, a team that was 25 to 1 to make the playoffs going into week 17 against a traditionally inept team that only made the playoffs because their division was horrendous.

Imagine if the Chargers also win....

???

ok it SHOULD be a bye. if the panthers choke and lose this game they have nobody to blame but themselves. the cardinals aren't good and they're missing a great WR.

And then in the AFC, you could see an 8-8 team hosting a conference championship against a team that went 4-12 last year and gave Miami their only win and is starting a rookie QB.
