Pardon the analogy, but Jerry Angelo just showed us his nuts and they are much bigger than I previously thought.

that's kinda gay

Ok.

In my book Jerry has had many an opportunity to strike on the offensive side of the ball and all too often didn't pull the trigger. Moreover, he's very often been too conservative with his 1st rnd picks. This is quite a change and it could make or break his career.

Both my brother in laws (really strange that they both are) are BIG Bronco and Cutler fans.

They are both really upset right now.

If I was a Bears fan.. I would be doing backflips.

He has a cannon. (Watching him reminds me so much of Favre its crazy) Denver could not play any defense last year. They were down to their 8th string RB. He still put up great numbers and should of made the playoffs. Great trade for the Bears. Rodgers vs. Cutler could become a nice litle rivalry.

See you in September J Cut.

There's been nothing of this caliber to cross Jerry's desk since he's been here.

Arguably correct, but that doesn't mean he hasn't missed opportunities to improve the team on that side of the ball, including the line.

schlereth is a delusional denver homer.

uh, we lost both our tackles. how can he see that as a bad thing? does he even watch football?

Roc Hoover is definately blowing a lot of crap today. It is as if he couldn't find a legit reason to hate the trade so he makes up a reason. Cause anybody with a brain and eyeballs that is working knows, Chris Williams and Orlando Pace > Tait and JSC. Period. While I do agree that Schelerth believes the Bears do not have a #1, to suggest that all of the Bears current WR are #3 at best is flat out ridiculous. IMO, both Hester and Bennett are no worse then #2's in this league. Having a #1 is nice and I would love to have a #1 WR (those are very rarely available, and the Bears were looking a franchise QB like Cutler was available), but it's not mandatory, it really isn't. I think Schelerth is pissed that his beloved Broncos were forced to trade an unbelievably talented QB---pre-prime---for basically .50 on the dollar value.

Man, really mixed feedback on Cutler. The ESPN guys, Rick Morrissey,

One thing that a lot of people simply don't get: Orton sucks. People out there actually think Orton was an OK QB. Wow, have these guys seen Orton play? Likeable guy, sure. Good QB, no way. Any pro bowl QB is a huge improvement, and QB is the most important position on the field. No number 18 pick and 3rd rounder could possibly improve the team more this year that Cutler.

Time will tell.

It's kinds funny that for years all the talking heads said about the bears was that they were missing a qb and should do ANYTHING possible to get a qb. Seriously it got to the point that whenever the bears were mentioned on ESPN they immediatly brought up the qb issues, even if they were discussing something about the Bears D. Now the detractors of this trade are saying "who cares who the qb is? They have so many other holes."

So annoying.

Every sports media outlet hates any Chicago sports team.

The bears do have holes which they do need to address but since when is it ever a bad thing to address one of your biggest holes with one of the best players at that position.

i just watched schlereth say that kyle orton is better than cutler, essentially.

i honestly think that he's trying to make bronco fans feel better about losing a superstar.

I absolutely love the remark the thought the Bears "got worse" after the trade.

no Mark, no they didn't. Finding weapons to help Cutler in Chicago is easier then finding a franchise QB who is available. I used to like this man, but today he has been the biggest blowhard at ESPN. At least Dilfer admits that feels the Bears are a better today with the trade. Just shut up Schlereth, you are embarrassing yourself.

I am in pretty heavy Broncos country, and was at the gym on a treadmill watching ESPNews when the news broke. There was a veritable chorus of profanity that went up when it went up on the screen. A couple of guys left in disgust.

Meanwhile, I was grinning from ear to ear.

I really got the sense that a lot of Broncs fans really thought all of this drama was some sort of posturing, and nothing would come of it, and honestly, so did I.

I'm glad I was wrong. I think with the revamped oline, this makes all-pros out of Olsen and Davis. I also imagine a WR will be targeted in the 2nd round. It's going to be weird watching the Bears with a franchise QB.

Oh, and I was marveling at how ignorant Schlereth is all afternoon. Research much?

he still refuses to recognize that the bears just signed pace. somebody ask him about it, i'd dare him to say, on national television, that pace is old and broken down.

So what are the odds the Bears go with a WR in the 2nd round?

Not that great once we sign Tory Holt.

:beg:

Well, that would be nice.

EDIT: Though I'm sure Mark Schlereth would tell us how washed up he is and that somehow it makes the Broncos a better team.

Nah you still have to draft a WR, maybe not as high, but still draft one if you sign Torry Holt. At this point in his career, Holt is nearing the end and you can't count on Holt to be anything more then a Bobby Engram type slot/possession reciever. If either a really good WR is still available in the 2nd rd, take him.

I think unless Nicks or Heyward-Bey is still out there the Bears will go elsewhere with the 2nd round pick and take a WR later. Unless they got some guy ranked real high that isn't high on other boards.

Agreed. I am not saying we don't have holes. We have tons. But give us some damn credit. We did what you said we needed to do...we filled the QB position with one of the best in the league.
