I bought a Rex jersey after the Atlanta game... and was able to wear it proudly for... a little while...

I still have a magazine from early-season '06. The cover:

"On the Hot List: Rex Grossman"

Remember the Pro-Bowl voting commercial with Rex and Moose? That was pretty awesome.

Hehe, yeah. I remember that.

Oh man, I just realized how incredibly insane training camp is going to be this year. Wow. I'm definitely going to go, along with probably the rest of Chicago.

Where the heck is Goony? I'm interested in his take on this, although I'd imagine he's loving this deal.

He was for acquiring Cutler, though I don't know if at this price. Not really for the Pace deal though.

Maybe he pissed off a Jets fan who was hoping for Cutler :)

Well, we all knew it was going to cost quite a bit to get him with the amount of teams that were expressing interest. With still having 8 picks in this draft, I can't imagine he'd be too upset. We can still address needs. Maybe we don't get a guy who can step right in and start, but if they can land guys who can at least contribute, they're still better off.

I've seen a site selling Cutler Jersey's with the number one, but the link above says #6. What's his number going to be?

I actually like the Pace pick up now with the signing of Cutler. He needs protection right away, and you'll probably get that moreso from a seasoned veteran than anyone they can draft in the 2nd round.

Maybe Goony will agree with that.

Hopefully #6, because that's what I ordered. The only single digit Bears uniform numbers that are currently in use are #4 and #9.

I would also imagine that #6 was a personal preference for Cutler, since it's somewhat of an odd number for an NFL QB.

I'm sure it's been posted... but Cutler's record when Denver's terrible defense held teams under 21 points?

13-1

I'm sure we'll find out in about 7 hours.

But I'd bet on 6.

I ordered mine from the Chicago Bears store. They must have some sort of inside info, right?

All I know is that I am throwing all "cautious optimism" to the wind right now. It feels good to be genuinely excited about the Bears right now. \:D/

I'm sure they wouldn't ship any jerseys until they knew the real number, even if he changes it.

Awesome. How do his road splits look in comparison to his home splits, with Mile High being more of an offense oriented stadium?

I think I figured it out. Goony was so excited about the news yesterday that he jumped a flight to Denver to help Mr. Cutler pack.

Not sure... but last year, his rating on the road was slightly better than at home.

That's what I like to hear.

He's trying to figure out how to disagree with everyone here.

I know this might be the kool-aid talking, but does anyone see a feasible way the Bears can trade back into the first round to get DHB?

Anyone ... ?

Any thoughts...?

I think it's more likely that DHB falls to the Bears in the second round than they trade up into the first to grab him. Take that as you will.

Due to the holes this team still needs to fill, I don't see them giving up more draft picks to move up.

Bennett seemed like a real unknown for this team next year until the Cutler trade. Now it seems like Bennett will be in the mix with their history together. I'd almost rather see them grab a veteran like Holt.

peter king is a dolt.

Last year, they, and Cutler, combined to form the number two offense in football, averaging 396 yards per game. Chicago averaged exactly 100 yards less, and was 26th in total offense.

one of the big reasons why the bears offense was so bad last year was the quarterback position. no kidding they were 26th.

I'm excited about the deal. However, I don't think you can really evaluate whether this was a smart deal or not for 2-3 years. All of these blowhards in the media already declaring this a great or horrible move are all just being sensationalist for their job security. We'll see how the draft picks that the Broncos get end up panning out. Plus, as I think someone previously mentioned, the Bears have a better track record finding gems after the 2d round than in the first round. Angelo is actually one of the better GMs in the league finding good talent in the second half of the draft. Too bad he never could draft as well at the top.

Overall, my prediction is that both teams will be content with this deal in 3 years.

Disagreed.

For the Bronco's the draft picks will matter. For us, all that matters is that Cutler continues to improve and is our QB for the next decade. I don't care if those draft picks end up being as good as Walter Payton and Dick Butkus, it would have still been a success for us (and a really big one for Denver obviously). About the only way it might matter is if Denver goes QB at 18 and he ends up being better than Cutler. Any other scenario and it really only matters how Cutler does when evaluating our side of the trade.

Not worth it, IMO.

I don't think there's any chance the Bears get back in the 1st. They'd have to trade their 2nd and a pretty good player or another 2010 pick.

As for DHB, I like him but always thought of him as being way too risky and more likely to bust than boom. However, with Cutler on the field, no raw offensive talent scares me. Eddie Royal had an excellent year out of nowhere for Denver.

I don't think they want back in the first round...don't wanna pay first round money.

Torry Holt's agent said he "doesn't see" the free agent wide receiver seriously considering the Bears.

"We have several other teams that are interested," Kennard McGuire said. "Torry has a process and he is going through that process. We will [have another visit] it is just a matter of time." Holt would make sense for Chicago, but it doesn't sound like he's interested.

I hate attitudes like that.
