The Bears actually made an offensive move to change the entire complexion of the offense and upgraded the protection on the same day. With an accurate deep ball, this will greatly influence Hester as Orton missed so much on Hester wide open 45 yards down field. They still need a #1 and combine that with a RG and the offense will be a balance and productive threat.

Oline is set now

LT LG C RG RT

Pace Omiyale Kreutz Garza Williams

Williams Beekman Beekman Buenning Shaeffer

WR/S/DE left take care of.

shaeffer starts at RG.

i think the trade really helps the broncos, too.

you may think i'm crazy, but i see orton as a potential tom brady-type in mcdaniels's offense. and i think mcdaniels sees it as well.

I think your crazy. you left Seattle after all.

da job wuz in denver. i had to go wherever it went.

the kick in the ass is that i could get the same job, today, in seattle. but i'd have to sell my house in 2 days and raise 3 grand to move because i'm sure they wouldn't pay for it.

We all knew these articles would begin to come. Rick Morrissey doesn't like the deal. Cutler doesn't have the famed mental "Chicago toughness."

typical contrarian article to the general public's view of the trade.

Or just maybe what he feels.

Mike Mulligan thinks the positives outweigh the negatives.

Cutler maybe a little sensitive and not really thick skinned but after giving up what we gave up for him its hard for him not to feel wanted here. I don't think there is much to be worried about his toughness.

It's pretty funny to see these "thin skinned" and "not mentally tough" references regarding Cutler after his reputation in college.

All through college, the one thing that impressed everybody was his mental toughness. Leading a badly undertalented Vanderbilt team over Tennessee in Neyland for the first time in decades, going between the hedges and beating a very good Georgia team. Competing with Florida in the Swamp.

Cutler throughout college and in the draft was a tough gunslinger. "The next Favre" they said.

Now he's "not mentally tough" and "thin skinned." Ridiculous.

Let's all hope that Cutler just made Eddie Royal look good and we can pick up a guy who will similarly produce in the 2nd or 3rd round.
I think Cutler will make Brandon Lloyd look like Eddie Royal.

The dude played a year with undiagnosed type 1 diabetes and lost like 30-35 pounds during that year. Maybe he felt hurt about not being wanted but the dude is tuff on field. Really ill go back to the Briggs situation, that seemed unrepairable as much as he griped. Cutler latest situation isnt anyway near what Briggs was doing, hell he was on ESPN all the time doing interviews and stuff about not wanting to play for the Bears etc. Now what...the dude is loved. Also one the thing scouts/people liked about Cutler coming out of college was he was on an ass offense competiting agains very good defenses in the SEC. Dew beat me to it i see

I loooove Jay Cutlers game.

"I think you might be underrating Kyle's ability," McDaniels said. "I think Kyle has good ability. He's 21-12 as a starter. To me that's the most important statistic in football. It represents how he affects his team. This guy has been productive. He does a lot of things well. He's smart, he's accurate. He's a very competitive player, he's tough and he's a great teammate and we're looking forward to adding him to our roster."

I wonder if they're really buying into that "quarterback record" thing. If they are, I think it's BS. As useless as measure pitchers by wins and losses.

Morrisey's backed into a corner. He has to stick with this position, because he called Cutler a crybaby a few days back. When Cutler throws his first 300 yard game Morrisey's going to have to figure out a reason why it still isn't good enough.

Pulling out the team's record to support a QB pretty much means you don't have an argument. The problem with Kyle has been, and always will be, accuracy.

Kyle's another in a long line of QB who were just filling the role with the Bears. Whenever the Bears have been contenders, it has come from somewhere on the roster OTHER than QB.

Well. That has finally changed. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Orton has no skills. But he's not a plus QB on an NFL team. I can't see how he could ever be, when he can't get over 60% in completion percentage and can't hit his deep throws enough.

Any money says Cutler drops the puck at the Hawks game tomorrow night.

I'm pretty sure we'll be finding out about Jay's singing voice at some point too.
