By the way, apparently some radio station is reporting that the O's offered him 9/180 and the Nats topped it by offering 10/200. Who knows if that's true or not

If he goes to the Nats, how long before he's on the trading block?? Didn't some team pick up a big fat salary of an outfielder they had a

few years back!! :-k

That's a heaping helping of "A-Rod to the Cubs" bullcrap.

So you're saying BigBird made it up?

to expound, the angels have said tex is their #1 priority this offseason...The Red Sox have said they are willing to make a historic offer.

Tex is creeping towards Arod money

That's just insane. I expected him to make a few bucks, but in my mind he's no ARod. Is anyone else shocked at some of the numbers being tossed out there for him?

I'm shocked that the latest rumor is $180 mil. I figured he could command $150, maybe $160. $180 is absurd.

Oh, and Rotoworld is saying it's the Nats that have offered him $180 mil..

MLB.com's Bill Ladson reports that the Nationals have offered Mark Teixeira an eight-year, $180 million contract.

It's possible. The Yahoo! report from earlier today said the Nats had made an offer believed to be at least $150 million for seven year, but didn't have the real details. Ladson covers the Nats for MLB.com, so he should have some reliable sources.

Crazy. He is though a gold glover at first, and he has arguably hit better since he's gotten away from Texas. I kind of want him to sign with the Nats, even though technically they will be part of our competition. I'd like to see the Nats actually succeed sometime during this millennium. That and I really hate the O's so I hope they get him instead of them.

Bahahahahahaha.

I love some of these contract numbers. That is, until it's time for some of our guys (soto..) to re-up in a few years.

So much for the market being low this year because of the economy.

This is craziness like the 2000 offseason when Manny and Hampton and all those other guys signed for obscene amounts.

I hope the money comforts him over the next few years, because he won't even get a whiff of anything resembling a playoff race for a very long time in Washington.

So much for the slow FA market and the down economy. I'd love me some Tex at 1b, but not for 20 per over that many years. I'll pass.

I bet OH has already posted it as a done deal for the O's 2-3 times already.

If you mean 7-8 times, then you're probably right. :-))

They don't want to announce it so as not to take attention away from Ravens/Steelers.

The Angels have now offered a 8 year deal to Tex probably for somewhere around 160-180. I know Tex is good and all but committing 8 years and nearly $200 mil. is a lot for one player.

Ideally we want the Angels to get Tex right? I thought I remembered reading that if the Angels got Tex they had no interest in Peavy.

Yeah that's what they said

The OH insiders hinted 2 days ago that Teixera would possibly be attending the Ravens/Steelers game, and now ESPN has reported he will be a guest of Angelos at the game this morning.

Hm...
