LF Gathright

SS Miles

2B Fontenot

1B Hauffpauir

CF Johnson

RF Fukudome

3B Cedeno

C Bako

Look at all those lefties . . .

Its been said that the lack of lefties is why they can't get past the first round...

Too bad only two of those lefties are even decent (Fontenot and Fuku).

That's the only logical way to explain it.

And it makes Miles' money even more inexcusable.

Very good point.

He's making in two years what DeRosa would make in one. I just realized that. :banghead:

Yeah. I don't hate having Miles on the roster, but I hate paying him that much.

I was fine with it when I heard about it - but I was thinking it'd be 1 year/$1 mil tops. Not two years/$2.5 per.

Typical Hendry,overpaying for mediocrity

Eh, he overpays for everybody. Except the hometown discounts, is there really any free agent at all that Hendry hasn't overwhelmed?

I understand that lineup is in jest, but one of those players won't be on the team. We won't have a 6 player bench.

If they get Bradley, what will the bench be?

Assuming fukudome/soriano/bradley OF and Fontenot at 2nd:

Johnson, Miles, Bako, Gathwright and......? I have to think that last spot will be an infielder. That's a whole bunch of no production on the bench.

I imagine Hoffpauir would be the favorite. And I'm going to start hoping against hope that Pie beats out Gathright.

Prob Hoffpauir or Cedeno

I don't see a recently signed Gathwright failing to make the team. And I would be really surprised if they went into a regular season with only Aaron Miles as a potential back up at 3 of the 4 infield positions.

The key to making the DeRosa trade a non-disaster is to acquire Mark Teahen. If Hendry can do that, Teahen replaces DeRosa and Miles replaces Cedeno.

Even if he can pull that off, paying Miles $4.9/2 is pretty dumb.

Yeah, it doesn't fit together at all, that's the most puzzling thing about this offseason.

I'd rather keep Pie over Gathright but it looks like they've given up on him. I can't see them keeping them both. Hopefully Pie is moved for something major as opposed to dumping him for some mediocre pitching prospects.

OMG I am sooo pumped The Bako is back. That said, for the Bench, This is what I would like to see:

Bako

Reed

Hoff

Pie/Gathright

Cedeno

This is what I think we will see:

Bako

Reed

Hoff

Gathright

Miles

My concern is that leaving Cedeno off the roster cripples our definsive middle infield were we to need a defensive replacement. Theriot and Fonty scare me quite a bit in a close game. Not too sure how Miles is defensivly. Also, I would love to see Pie take the next step and earn a roster spor in spring training, but I'm thinking he wont be around that long.

Yeah think of how much fun it'll be to dump Cedeno for nothing so we can pay Aaron [expletive] Miles 2.5M per to do the same damn thing.

Very average at extreme best. Most of what I've heard is that he's below average.

I think that Hoff will start in AAA to get everday AB's and he will be the first one up once Bradley/Soriano/Lee/Ramirez/Johnson gets hurt or if Fontenot/Fukudome are doing bad. I think we will sign Aurillia or Millar to be the primary pinch hitter and backup 1B/3B. My only question is who the F is out backup SS?

Miles for now. But as I've said a bunch of times, I can't see Lou dealing with only 1 backup MI.

Sun-Times says he signed for 725 K plus a possible 300K in incentives based on games played.

I thought 500 K was bad. 725K !!! Who were they bidding against?

Yeah, it's best to spread the suckyness out over a longer period of time.

Javier Valentin is four years younger, a better hitter, and hits from both sides of the plate (he's a better hitter from the left side, too). He just got a minor league deal from the Nats. I would have preferred him over Bako.
