I can't be the only one who watched part of the New Orleans Bowl. Okay, maybe I can be. But OMG this was awful.

Warning: if you don't like dangling appendages, don't click.

Southern Miss won, but no one really cares.

I saw it too. I knew he was done (at least for the game) instantly. Images of Tyrone Prothro come to mind having seen that. Kind of hard to believe how easily that seemed to happen. Hopefully he won't suffer the same fate Prothro did.

Yeah, Prothro was a pretty definite NFL player before that happened to him.

Hopefully this will end up better.

Mike Shula is a good man and all, but like most Bama fans we will never forget/forgive Mike for leaving Pro in the game during the blowout victory over the Gators. Pro was the precursor to Devin Hester and DeSean Jackson, and would have been a really good player in the NFL.

But at least Pro had that one ridiculous catch against Southern Miss, in which IMO was the best catch I ever saw.

I hope DeAndre Brown eventually be able to play again, but with my experience with Prothro this doesn't look good for the incredibly talent DeAndre Brown. Damn......he was going to be a really good one.

50% - the chance of being arrested if you're the governor of Illinois

48% - the chance of being convicted if you murder someone

40% - the chance that you earn an undergraduate degree if you play football at Texas

Something seems wrong about that list.

Where is 40% coming from its 50% damnit :-), plus its better than OU's.

Also Jordan Shipley was granted eligible to play next season with a medical 6th year :-). I am hoping he helps to build towards that graduation rate.

Seriously ESPN, please get rid of your scrolling chat ticker at the top of the screen. No one wants to see DIABLOCONCARNE talking smack to TCU fans while trying to watch the game. Or any of the useless, illiterate blabber that's up there.

I said it earlier in the season. Worst idea they've had since ESPN Hollywood.

No one watched last night? Too bad. That was a wonderful departure from what I spent the last month or so watching. It may be entirely meaningless, but so were all those bowl losses, and at least it won't get rammed down my throat every time I watch ND play anymore.

hawai'i has a God-awful secondary. i think that most high school teams could throw for at least 200 on them.

No one seemed to be concerned with this when they picked against ND and made cracks that they'd lose by 30 anyway.

i picked nd because, even though they're not very good, they still had boatloads more athletic talent than this hawai'i team. last year it would have been different but this year's hawai'i is pretty lousy.

I thought Hawai'i playing at home, trying to amend last year's beatdown and with ND's pitiful play of late (losing to Syracuse, for instance) would overcome the huge talent advantage the Irish had over the Warriors. Plus, Hawai'i's near win over Cincy in their final regular season game influenced me a bit (though it shouldn't have, I'm sure).

But, considering I gave 1 point confidence to the game, I wasn't that sure of myself on it.

Florida*: 151 Yards(213)

Oregon St*: 268(254)

SJSU: 152(196)

Fresno*: 204(207)

La Tech*: 167(157)

Boise*: 256(294)

Nevada*: 173(219)

Utah St.: 223(197)

New Mexico St. 394(301)

Idaho: 170(188)

Wazzu: 76(146)

Cincy*: 183(254)

And no, I'm not saying WHOOO NOTRE DAME IS AWESOME, I'm saying the visceral hatred for Notre Dame leads to absurd statements based on pretty much nothing other than Notre Dame hatred.(i.e. it's ridiculous that Notre Dame gets to be in a bowl with a 500 record just because they're Notre Dame. Or Hawaii's secondary is awful.

More than half the damn teams they played didn't put up 200 on them!! And 4 of them were bowl teams! ONLY ONE PUT UP MORE IN AN ENTIRE GAME THAN NOTRE DAME DID IN THE FIRST HALF

But no, you watched the Georgia game last year, so you'd know. That and Notre Dame sucks.

Rich Ellerson has departed from Cal Poly SLO to take the job at Army.

Anyone see the New York Times piece about the OU/Texas recruiting battle over Jamarkus McFarland?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/26/sports/ncaafootball/26recruit.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

It's an interesting read and there's been a lot of hand wringing from Horns fans over the allegations in the article. But I thought it seemed fairly tame and pretty much completely in line with what I thought goes on during mega power recruiting battles. Unless you're shocked that schools use things like booze and attractive women to showcase their programs it probably won't shock you too much either.
