This sounds bad considering how badly we played, but I was very happy with this Tennessee performance. Jonathan Crompton didn't do anything stupid and didn't turn the ball over at all - in fact, after the third quarter he was 6-8 for 101 yards and a TD. His best throw of the night was a deep TD pass on a post pattern to Dernarius Moore. Hopefully he can build on this outing and have some confidence going into next year.

I was also very glad to send Fulmer out with a win. It was a very emotional scene on the field as he met his players at midfield and they carried him off with flashbulbs going in the background. Awesome moment for a terrific head coach.

Ping, your boys played pretty well. The offense wasn't very good, and it didn't help that John Chavis appears to have figured out how to defend the spread option offense this season. Randall Cobb only had a few runs of any significance tonight, but he's definitely fast and very athletic.

Now, onto the Lane Kiffin era. For better or worse . . . . .

If UK played well, I would hate to see them play poorly. UK was awful against a bad team. UT ran the ball for 210 yards and was 88th in the country in rushing yards per game going into this game. Cobb needs to go back to WR b/c he can't throw the ball and UK needs to operate in a pro style offense, and I'm hoping that either Morgan Newton or Mossakowski is starting as a true freshman next year.

4/5 star wr kraig appleton of east st. louis, after winning the state championship at 7a, announced that he is fully committed to the university of illinois. he joins terry hawthorne and tommie hopkins who both played for esl this year.

despite our failures on the field, this has been another excellent recruiting year for zook. now, what we need is a defensive coordinator who will make those guys work, and relegate zooker to head coach/recruiter.

I guess I should break it into first and second halves. In the first half they played pretty well but UT just kinda took over in the second half.

And I agree about Cobb. Coming out of high school I didn't even consider him as a QB prospect and the past two weeks haven't given me any reason to change my mind. He'd make a really nice receiver/return man, but he's not a quarterback.

Chris Mortensen on ESPN Sunday Countdown just said his sources are saying that Monte Kiffin is, in fact, planning on joining Lane in Tennessee after the year.

Mortensen made it sound like a done deal. I hope he's right.

no my point is that OU's offense just might be a little more complex than "just slant routes!" and if it isn't, that the personnel just must be overwhelming because you'd think someone might have watched tape on them at some point in the year

there was also that thing about the offense being one dimensional, but i think we've disproved that

it's almost like you dont actually know what you're talking about

Anyways the OU passing game isnt very complicated. It's been running a bunch of patterns that end up where the DBs aren't and letting Bradford throw to them in fifteen yard windows.

the actual routes aren't complicated, but whose are? it's not like anyone has WRs putting quintuple moves on anyone

I was kidding. You can describe any good passing game in college football in the way that I did.

tebow has the same throwing motion, but he's short and fat. he won't be a good NFL qb

Tebow is what 6'3" or 6'4"? He's big, but he's not fat.

You'd think someone from the B12 would hire a defensive coordinator from the vaunted defensive minded SEC to stop the potent b12 offenses. You know someone who ran a Nick Saban National Championship LSU team or those 2 great Auburn defenses of 07 and 06. Oh wait Will Muschamp is the DC at Texas. How did he do against TT and OU this year. Yeah he got lit up too.

I know it's Miss State, but Ole Miss 'held' them to -51 yards rushing yesterday. That's -51. Obviously when you have 11 sacks, that's a lot of lost ground, but jesus. Miss State only had 37 yards of total offense.

Oh Jesus....

ONE POINT separated Texas from Oklahoma in the Coaches Poll....and Texas slid ahead of Florida.

1. 1520 Alabama (57)

2. 1396 Oklahoma (2)

3. 1395 Texas

4. 1384 Florida (1)

5. USC

6. Penn State

7. Utah

8. Texas Tech (1)

9. Boise State

10. Ohio State

11. TCU

12. Cincinnati

13. Ball State

14. Oregon

15. Oklahoma State

16. Georgia Tech

17. Missouri

18. Brigham Young

19. Georgia

20. Boston College

21. Michigan State

22. Northwestern

23. Pittsburgh

24. Oregon State

25. Mississippi

BTW...in the BCS the human polls component is taken by points/possible points...so for all intents and purposes...there is a three way tie for second between UF, UT and OU in the Coaches Poll.

This isn't going to end well.

Just 12 points separate Florida and Oklahoma...and yes someone gave Texas Tech a first place vote. I cannot wait to see which coaches voted which way. Remember...Stoops doesn't have a vote. Leach and Mack Brown do.

That's a great thing to be able to do something like that.

There's a significant difference between Texas and Florida. There is an 8 point difference between Texas and Oklahoma, although in the greater scheme of things, the AP poll is irrelevant this week.

This is a great hire, but the problem wasn't defense with Tennessee, it was the offense. Hey dew, any idea who is likely as OC?

I've heard about ESPN NEWS saying OU will be #2 and Texas will be #3 in the new BCS. Has anyone else seen this?

Most think that OU will pass Texas, but nothing is final yet
