Bruce says the Twins are serious about DeRo.

--Here's one out of left field: A Reds guy asked me if the Cubs would trade DeRosa to them. I don't know if that would have anything to do with a Peavy deal, but it's interesting nevertheless.

lol wut?

Well DeRosa has hit like .650 against the Reds the last 2 years, I can see why they like him.

Same difference.

Has there been a Cub treated worse by Hendry in the last two offseasons? Last year, he leaves him out in the cold wondering whether or not the team is going to acquire a 2b that will take him out of the starting roster. This year, he is shopping him around in another deal looking like the BRob one as far as how everyone is saying something different every 5 minutes. I know that the life of a ballplayer, especially one of Derosa's type can never be sure where they'll end up, but still.

Hendry hasn't done anything wrong. In fact, I don't know that I have even heard him say DeRosa's name once.

Yeah, my heart's just oozing with sympathy for the guy.

You haven't heard him say Peavy's name once, either.

Especially considering Hendry was the only GM crazy enough to offer him a 3/$12MM deal at a time when everyone thought it was ridiculous. DeRosa should love Jim Hendry.

That would be a violation of the CBA.

It isn't as much a question of right or wrong. I just wonder how long he will leave his name out there. Maybe I look at it differently, but I do think that he should let his players know where they stand. I don't think that he necessarily has to do it now, but if this Peavy deal is anything like what happened last year, Derosa won't know where he stands until opening day.

Yeah, I'd probably be upset for awhile. And then I would buy a brand new car to cheer me up with the 5 million im making this year.

Steve Phillips was just on ESPN, and mentioned depending on who you talk to the deal could be made later today or their not even talking at all right now. He said the potential trade could be

Phillies get

Mark DeRosa

Padres get

Josh Vitters

Felix Pie

Jason Marquis(with cash)

Carlos Carrasco(from Phillies)

JA Happ(from PHillies)

Cubs get

Peavy

Phillips was just on the Hot Stove Report on ESPN2 and mentioned what we already heard, but said that the Phillies guys would be Happ/Carrasco + Donalds and that Pie would also be heading to SD along with Vitters and Marquis.

everyone on this board thought it was ridiculous. i didn't see any reports suggesting that other teams saw the contract and thought "oh man what the hell are the cubs doing?"

I know that last year, Derosa made statements about how he didn't know what was happening in regards to what his position would be with the team.

He actually said 1 of Carrasco or Happ with Jason Donald, that seems like quite a bit for DeRosa alone, it is Steve Phillips so I don't how much I would put into it

Yeah that makes more sense, because otherwise it would be a very high price for DeRosa.
