Raisin or anyone else - Would someone mind listing the players that received an honorable mention? The players that didn't rank in the top 30, but are listed as depth at each position? Thanks in advance - I enjoy seeing who makes that list and who doesn't.

What is the scouting report on Starlin Castro? I haven't heard much about him as prospect.

Wait, Flaherty is at 3B? I thought he'd shift to 2B. Did I miss something?

Those are just projections.

He'd probably fit better defensively at third than second. On the flip side, his bat would be fantastic at second while it would get lost in the shuffle at third.

agreed. i'd keep him at middle infield unless he proves that he's awful at ss/2b. even if he's below average defensively at 2b he'll make up for it with his bat.

Ensuing chat:

Q: Steve from Atlanta, GA asks:

Any love for Daryl Jones or Jay Jackson?

A: John Manuel: There was some; we have very mixed reports on Jones. Love Jackson but hard to think a ninth-round pick from the most recent draft should be in the Top 100. He had a great debut, and we've heard stories of how he fell in the draft, how he just wasn't crosschecked well, weather interfered, one bad outing, etc. He's better than a ninth-round pick, and a great sleeper, but I don't think any of us considered him a top 100 guy.

Q: Ed from NJ asks:

Why the love for Vitters while ignoring Neftali Soto?

A: John Manuel: Better athleticism and defense for Vitters; Soto's scouting report doesn't encourage me he'll stay at 3b — limited range, rough footwork, below-average athlete. Not encouraging.

And here I thought Vitters was too low at 51.

If Vitters has a good year, he can rocket to the top 10.

I don't see that possibility for anyone else in the system.

If it weren't for the horrible, horrible Tim Wilken, we could have the #1 and #6 prospects in MLB.

Do you mean next year or within the next few years?

Vitters having the kind of year he's capable of means that he likely shows up in top 10 lists next season.

Of course, I believe that if he has the kind of year he's capable of, he'll have the kind of season that Dope put up in the MWL.

No way Vitters can put up Dope's season in the MWL. He'll be getting comfortable with Florida by June.

That's the other option. If he can put up quality numbers at 19 in that league, he'll rocket up, as well.

If he makes AA...watch out.

Well, with multiple mentions that he'll be in Daytona by at least midseason, I think he'll get promoted even if he's not dominating a la Colvin a few seasons ago.
