First loss at Lambeau in the Lovie era? I think not!

Win this game, and at least for the time being, its a 2 team race in the North.

Next 3 games:

Min:

@ TB

@ JAX

vs. CHI

Chi:

@ GB

@ STL

@ MIN

GB:

vs. CHI

@ NO

vs. CAR

The Bears have 3 road games, but probably have the easiest of the 3 schedules, although the Bears games are more important, with 2/3 games being divisional. I think this 3 game stretch decides the NFC North.

Bears/Packers get the Buck and Aikman pairing, but it's not going to be seen in that much of the country due to a whole bunch of rather lame games airing at 1 eastern on Fox.

Moreover, because the Rams have a 3:00pm game, apparently league rules dictate that instead of an early game FOX must show The Banger Sisters. I need to move home.

Looks like Orton will play this week. Limited practice yesterday. Should get more today. And I'd imagine almost all the reps Friday. Kreutz, Harris, Jones, and Brown missed practice for non-injury reasons, but everyone else practiced including limited action by Orton, Hillenmeyer, and Tillman. Brandon Lloyd also expects to play this week.

Nice of Lloyd to join us.

Bears Packers on page 2, no comments in over 24 hours? We're talking about potentially the most pivotal game of the season here folks.

Everyone is still crying about Kerry Wood.

No to be honest, I don't know why there isn't more discussion about the game. It's Packer week!

Some of the Bears players are starting to chirp about the media coverage they're getting, most notably Tommie Harris.

This weekend's game will be pivotal, indeed. Not only is it the most important game to date in determining the division champion (i.e. our only chance for the playoffs in all likelihood), but it also looks to be a horrible matchup for our defense.

I don't mind Bears players getting fired up and angry. Really, I don't -- actually, I think it holds the potential to increase the level of play. But I want to see results on the field. The Packers can put 3, even 4 good WRs on the field at the same time and Rodgers definitely has the arm to get the ball to any of them downfield. This is exactly the kind of matchup where the Bears can prove their naysayers wrong. But if they collapse as the matchup appears to show they might -- then understand, there's a reason for the criticism.

Win this game, then get a cupcake at STL next week. The Dome is gonna be majority Bears fans. Again.

I'm worried about that game, being sandwiched between two games against divisional rivals (Packers and Vikings). Rams aren't very good, but they had a stretch where they proved they can beat some decent teams, especially if they aren't focused.

One thing I'll be watching: last week Babich seemed to finally start letting Brown off his leash a little more. It looked like it worked -- I saw Brown more than I remember seeing him all year long.

My hope is, they were just holding him back in the early part of the season so he would be fresh for the stretch run. Let's see if Mike is more active near the line of scrimmage again this week.

The mitigating factor: this is largely a passing offense, so they might need to keep him back in coverage all game, even though Mike's really not that great in coverage.

I think that stretch is done. A new coach bounce is not unheard of, but Haslett is a goof and that team sucks. If the Bears are any good that won't be a problem.

I'm looking for Hester's first return TD in that game, on the fast track, against a subpar opponent.

Unless it happens Sunday of course.

Last time the Bears were here Hester ran back two. And Rex was awesome. *sigh* That game was awesome though. Monday night, Dome was electric, which it never is.

When the Bears are really really good, it seems like everything is electric. That season was electric. In no way were they as good as the 85 Bears, but the atmosphere in some of the road games they played sure seemed like it.

I have my Walter Payton jersey on. My co-worker has his stupid Brett Favre Packers jersey.

There goes the no jerseys on casual Friday rule.

Dan Hampton the other day on the Score basically told Harris and company to shut up and play. It was great, he called out Urlacher saying Mr. Superstar LB why don't you do something besides talk. Of the DL he said why don't you quit getting stood up at the line of scrimmage and get to the QB. That being said I don't expect a change, I believe, as the previous five or so QB's have done, Rodgers to have his best QB rating of season. How can he not? He'll ample time to sit in the pocket and the Bears secondary cannot cover anyone.

He may have a point, but that's essentially what Dan Hampton says everytime he opens his mouth. My guess is it's going to be ignored.

Yeah, the problem I have with getting angry at the criticism is, if there are no results then it's unrealistic to expect there to be none.

What, the Bears are supposed to pay out millions of dollars, the fans are supposed to watch their defense get ripped to shreds through the air every week, and everyone should just shut up and take it? Unrealistic. Illogical.

You got paid. Good for you. But if you don't perform, you're gonna hear it. Deal with it. Guys like Urlacher, and now Harris -- they seem to come off like they think they're untouchable. I don't whether it's just arrogance, or what. But it comes off like they think they're above reproach. That's just not how it works. Never has been in this town, and never will be.

They do sound like a bunch of big babies complaining, but I think they aren't as bothered by it as they act, and they use the media as motivation to play better. Or at least they try to.

In the interest of making a prediction, here is what I am thinking

Bears 27

Packers 21

Orton 17-28 242 yards 1 TD 1 INT

Forte 22 carries 96 yards 1 TD, 3 catches 28 yards

Hester Punt return for TD

To me Harris sounds like a guy whose feelings are hurt. Urlacher sounds more arrogant/confident that they will step up when it matters.

I guess it hasn't mattered for him yet this season.

I think the familiarity will help the Bears pass D this week. I'm not saying they will shut the Packers down, but the Bears know the Packers are going to throw the ball and what they like to do in the air. This was not the case w/ Tennessee, Atlanta, and Tampa. I thought it was clear the Bears focused more on stopping the Titans run game. And it was clear they thought they could do things to confuse Ryan and the Falcons. I don't know what they hell they were doing vs. Tampa, though.

I think they will put pressure on GB. They have in the past. They have played their WRs well in the past. And this defense is one of the best in the league when they are motivated to do so and play aggressively. I think that will be the case this week.
