Could we not get too far ahead about Orton please. This isn't anything that Rex didn't do over a similar stretch of games.

Or Jim Miller, Steve Walsh, Erik Kramer, Shane Matthews, et. al.

I'm definitely waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I didn't say he's definitely the answer. But his possible development as a good NFL starter is fast becoming the most interesting thing to watch this season.

ill start a Rams-Cowboys game thread in which you can only root for the Rams.

Okay, this needs to be said. You had your fun in the last game thread, and I'm officially tired of reading it. If you don't have Bears game related material to share, please quit posting in the Bears game threads.

Your whining is as childish as anything.

Grow thicker skin.

Who's whining? Where do you see whining? There is one Bears thread per week, and I don't think it's asking too much to limit the discussion to the game at hand. My request has nothing to do with who should or should not post in the Bears game, but simply to keep the discussion to the game at hand.

The last game thread was littered with off topic discussion that had to be weeded through to find actual game discussion.

I don't really think that's asking too much. But, if you don't like it, take it up with an Admin.

I think soul is just picturing the distant possibility that Kyle has a prolonged career with the Bears. I still don't think its possible with our fan base.

Also, we all just pause and think of how awesome Erik Kramer was in 1995. That was one year where the other shoe never dropped.

I personally will be happy if Orton goes 16 games 16 starts, since its sadly an impressive milestone for this organization.

I'm not really sure who to root for in this game. Obviously a tie would help the Packers' chances are out the most, but everyone knows that won't happen.

The Bears have easily been more impressive than the Vikings all year long. I know a few Bears fans really believe they should be 6-0 right now, although 5-1 or 4-2 sound more realistic to me. There's no question that they've surprised me and I'm sure they've surprised a lot of you guys too. I think everyone not named ESPN saw that Minnesota wasn't going to be a Super Bowl contender with their issues at QB. I also think that they're possibly one of the worst 3-3 teams that I've ever seen. There's no reason why the Vikes shouldn't be 1-5 right now.

If I have to root for a team in this game on a performance standpoint, I'd root for the Vikes because the Bears are just simply a better team than Minnesota and I'm more concerned about them in the race for the division than Minnesota. Whatever happens will happen though.

I need more than a 1 year wonder from Kyle. We don't need another Kramer. We need an actual longer term starter.

The fans CAN'T turn on Kyle. They booed Rex into submission precisely because they wanted Kyle. They at least must give him the normal amount of support QBs would receive in other towns.

Fans booed Rex because he was the starting QB of the Bears, it had nothing to do with Kyle. He will receive the same treatment from fans if he struggles.

Careful now. I think most Bears fans are tired of the carousel of QB's, not that they want Kyle. They'll take anyone who has the capacity to be good, a team leader and will consistently get this team to the playoffs.

Granted, Matt Ryan is just a rookie with only a small handful of games under his belt, but he showed some great composure and he found his receivers when he wanted and needed to.

That's what I want in a QB. I've only been waiting for that for 35 years.

The booing isn't just directed at the QB in the game at the time. It is also directed at the personnel who decided not to give us good QB's.

Well well well, look who the senior VP for investor development is at this company: http://www.tnpre.com/executives.html

Ugh.

See Soul. Now you've got Raisin spending his valuable time looking up former Bears QB's in a thing we call "Where are they now?".

I hope you're happy.

I won't be truly happy until it surfaces that he tried to park in a handicapped spot and got towed.

One particular fan who was excited about his team winning caught flak from at first a moderator when others piled up on him. His comments were innocuous in a game thread talking about a game that his team had won. He was correct when he was saying that he was cheering because his team won, NOT because the Bears lost. It seemed like the perpetrators of that issue with wading through garbage posts come from the Bears fans (and as I said, a moderator on this board got it started, and I have a ton of respect for Raisin).

That said, I never received a response to my inquiry in the other thread about what "proper etiquette" would be in a Bears/Packers game thread considering there are a few handfuls of big Packers fans on this board.

They were pretty innocuous. For the record, I'm sorry I said "+1" to it now as VI's behavior in that thread wasn't close to trolling or smacktalking.

I was just......EXTREMELY....frustrated at that game.

Yeah, I've got a thinner skin. That shouldn't be a secret around here by now.

Sorry Vanilla.

Now I hope we can talk about how the Bears are going to blow this next game. There are a thousand ways, pick one.

Despite the score Minnesota kicked Detroits ass yesterday. The only thing DET did well was get a 50 yard run and had some sacks against Gus.

Forte will have a hard time running the ball, maybe they can get it to him via the pass? A lot is riding on Ortons shoulders to win this one. If the Lions can sack Gus, the Bears should be able to as well. Going into the Atlanta game the Bears were #1 with 90 blitzes, so i dont look for any dropoff this weekend. Vasher should be back, Tillman i havent heard anything about. I am concerned with the injuries in the secondary, hopefully things wont be serious.

Orton hasnt gotten booed because he hasnt laid those ginourmous turds like Rex would. Right now i would be surprised if Orton lays one of those huge turds this year. There have been times where the O has had trouble moving the ball but they got out of the funk, and overall Orton has made some good decisions with ball, where and where not to go with it. He has been steady.

Actually, while Minnesota is stout against the run, I don't think this Bears offense needs to rely on the run to move the ball. And from what I've seen Minny's pass defense is suspect.

I had no problem with any of his posts during the game or even the first celebratory post but 2 celebration posts in a span of 10 posts in the thread seemed like overkill (and it appears as though I wasn't the only one to think that; but if a lot of you think otherwise, fair enough...).

this will probably be my last post about it, but all i did was make two celebratory posts after an unbelievable win, then i left. When I came back, about 10 people complained about it (which seemed like overkill to me). So, I defended myself

The pass defense has been better than it was last year although I'm not sure why. The pass rush hasn't been much better and we're still without Madieu Williams (and have a rookie in his place) so Sharper is having to do too much and is in the twilight. Winfield is having maybe his best year ever and Griffin has been improved at the other corner.

They're 6th in the NFC in passing yards allowed and have faced Rodgers, Manning, Brees and Delhomme. In 6 games they've allowed only 4 passing touchdowns to 4 interceptions. Only Brees and Manning went over 200 yards.

This defense won't be as good against the run as they have been because Allen isn't as good as Udeze at stopping the run at DE and E.J. Henderson is a huge loss against the run at MLB.

The defense has been outstanding considering the schedule and some of the spots they've been put in with an inconsistent offense and terrible coverage units on special teams. They'll either have to kick out of bounds all day or Hester will have at least one touchdown.

I think the defense will be fine but am most worried about special teams, our o-line and continued red zone inefficiency and turnovers at the most inopportune times.

I would guess this could be another game that goes down to the wire. However, if the Bears aren't healthy, it could be ugly. Lack of pass rush + a great offensive line + toughest defense faced all year, could mean a long game for the Bears. .

Carolina, Tampa and Philly are all right there with Minnesota defensively, if not better.

Minnesota has been a better pass D than Tampa. They have been better at not allowing points than the Eagles. They are almost a 1/2 yard better than all in rushing yards per carry. And while Minnesota has given up 19.8 points per game, they've given up 3 punt returns for TDs (take away those and the XPAs and their PPG is 16.3 to 16.2 for Carolina and Tampa). They've also given up 3 TDs on drives of 11 yards or less. Vikes have the best run D in the NFC, again.

You can argue "right there" with Minnesota, but you can't argue than any of those teams are better than the Vikings defensively.
