Chicago sports is on quite a roll right now.

The Bulls have won 5 in a row, and are rolling towards the playoffs as the 6th seed.

The Hawks finished the year 6-0-1 in their last 7 games and are about to start a playoff series with home ice advantage.

The Cubs started out the season 5-2 and are on a 3 game winning streak.

Heck, even the White Sox have won 3 in a row and started the season 4-3.

And then there's the Bears picking up Jay Cutler which is still the biggest Chicago sports story on the airwaves.

When was the last time that Chicago sports teams were this good?

Not since I've been alive, that's for sure.

I don't get why people don't think the Bulls can't beat the Magic? Orlando is clearly a perimeter team, defend them at the arc (forced them into stupid 3 point shots) and the Bulls can beat the Magic. Orlando is not a superior team, and while it's likely they will be the Bulls I don't think it's automatic.

I am going to be the positive one, I believe if the Bulls get the 3-6 matchup with the Magic, they'll win in 5. Yes, I think the Bulls win in 5.

1969 bears: 1-13 hawks: 34-33 bulls: 33-49

1984 bears: 10-6 hawks: 30-42 bulls: 27-55

1989 bears: 6-10 hawks: 27-41 bulls: 47-35

1998 bears: 4-12 hawks: 30-39 bulls: 62-20

2003 bears: 7-9 hawks: 30-33 bulls: 30-52

In the 1989 calendar year, the Bears, Bulls, Hawks and Cubs all played in the semifinals of their respective sports. They all lost in the semis, too. (49ers, Pistons, Flames, Giants)

Dwight Howard.

And the Bulls are bull fighters on defense: they hold out a red shirt and the offense runs right by them. The Suns' style of play (fast- paced, no defense) which the Bulls are incorporating has never won a championship that I can think of.

Orlando lost by 18 at Milwaukee tonight and only scored 80 in the process. They're entering the playoffs ice cold.

I understand that, but have they even had anything to play for for a couple weeks?

They had the lead on the 2 seed prior to this last stretch. That's huge in the grand scheme of things.

Yep. If they had the 2 seed, they would've had HCA against Boston in the 2nd round. They definitely have had something to play for over this last week.

Dwight Howard ain't Lebron James. I love Howard and I love his game, but the Magic are a perimeter based team, and the Bulls are athlethically enough to guard them at the perimeter. Forced the Magic into bad three point shots, and there are nothing more then the Detroit Pistons, to be honest. A beatable team if I ever saw one.

Because only Lebron James is capable of taking on the Bulls?

The Pistons don't have Dwight Howard. He is going to eat Noah alive.

The Bulls don't force any team to do anything that they don't want to do.

True, but allow Howard to get his, and I take my bets on 5 on 4 (Rose/Gordon/Salmons/Thomas/Noah .v. Alston/Lee/Turk/Lewis) for the rest of the game. Throw in the fact that that Pietrus might be the Orlando's best bench player, whereas the Bulls can go 8 deep with Hinrich/Miller and if he gets off the bench Tim Thomas you have to like the Bulls chances. Not to mention if Deng can come back for the playoffs (and I know it's a BIG if) that's even better. That would mean the Bulls could theoritically run 10 deep for the playoffs.

So yes, I picking the Bulls to upset the Magic in the first rd.

Besides the Pistons, Orlando is the team I would want to play in the playoffs, and that includes all 8 seeds. The Magic beat the Bulls 3 out of 4 times this year, but they haven't played since the Bulls have hit their stride with the new players. Orlando is cold right now. The 3-ball has not been falling for them as of late. And I think the Bulls can throw a lot of bodies at Howard and make him earn it from the line, if necessary. Miller and Gray force Howard to play against a bigger body who can hack him if he gets in a position to score. Tyrus and Noah give the Bulls a smaller quicker guy who can possibly block Howard's shot.

But the key will be how the Bulls guard Turkolou and Lewis on the outside. I like Salmons on one of them, but don't like Tyrus trying to guard the other one on the outside. I love the Rose vs. Alston matchup. I think he can take advantage of this matchup all night and possibly get Howard into foul trouble.

What does this really mean, though? A lot of teams don't win championships. All but one ever year do. They went to the western conference finals with that team. They also got screwed by the league in 2007 with those suspensions.

The fact that that team never won a championship doesn't mean they couldn't have.

But this is a totally unrelated argument to the thread and the Bulls are obviously nowhere near as good as those teams.

The Magic have sucked for a couple weeks now. It's good timing, but the Bulls will still lose.

Most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised to see if go 7. I expect the Bulls to win at least 2, though.

That's what I think happens too although I wouldn't be shocked if the Bulls managed to win the series.

The Magic are extremely beatable, and based on their style of play should be beaten.

It all depends on how the Bulls attack Orlando. If we force Orlando to go to an up-tempo game, I think we'll win the series. I have a lack of confidence in Del Negro being able to outcoach SVG in a seven game series.

With the way the Bulls are currently playing, I don't see this being a 7 game series. I have ??? about the Magic depth outside of their starting lineup. Outside of Howard they don't have much of a defensive prowess, and offensively it's either dump it in to Howard (and sometimes the Magic forget to include Howard in their offense) or basically settle for the 3 pointer. In other words, I would be disappointed if the Bulls don't win the series.

How many Magic games have you watched?

You're setting yourself up for disappointment then. The Magic are a good team. Better than the Bulls. And they have the homecourt advantage. It would be an upset if the Bulls won on a lot of levels.

The Magic might be wise to just forfeit and save themselves the embarrassment.
