I'm tired of this Cubs team talking the walk, and giving WS predictions at the begainning of the season, yet choking hard in the playoffs.

Before this year (it's not over yet) when did Cubs players give WS predictions?

Z in 2007 comes to mind.

He also didn't "choke hard" in the playoffs in '07, nevermind that apparently every mediot out there forgot about that.

I am tempted to get drunk, black out and wake up to see the score tomorrow because I just want to know the result of this game without the nerves of seeing it but I have homework to do (which is so not getting done right now).

He's the one guy who showed up last year.

One of those teams was the 2001 mariners. Lost the first game 5-0.

Amusingly, commentators seem to think the Cubs ace pitches today after the Dodgers ace pitched yesterday.

The best pitcher on the Dodgers goes today, and the Cubs still haven't felt the need to use their best starter.

And the other was the 1995 Mariners.

Ironic that one of the primary reasons the Cubs chose to start Dempster was because he can go deeper into games than Harden.

Eight of the seventeen lost the first game at home.

Based on history, we have an 8/52 chance of winning the series.

Of course, we're the Cubs, so cut that in half. 8/104 = 7.7%

I'll take it.

Screw the odds, we have more than a 7 I Dropped The Soap! percent chance to win the damn series

Some of you guys take numbers too seriously

I think he was joking about 7%.

A generic team would be about 15%, we're not a generic team, we're a darned good one with favorable pitching matchups in 3 of 4 remaining games (game 3 absurdly so).

I'd say closer to 25%.

Whuile compiling all these stats about who did what in which series, how about analysing how many times the team who fell behind or pulled ahead 1 game was the team with the better season record

Good question, but I know that in the division-series era, the team with the better record has lost more playoff series than they've won.

I'm confident in Z. Not so sure about the offense. But I'm confident in Z. The last time he pitched on this much rest, he pitched a no-hitter.

I'm on the record as saying we'll win both games in LA. So the offense needs to show up tonight. And so do the fans. Last night was embarrassing.

Yeah, it's been almost 24 hours.

I'm not going Stockton on you, but booing players is stupid enough before the playoffs and even dumber during. I understand the situation, but it just doesn't help.

And it'd be nice if we stop cheering Greg Maddux more than our own players, too.
