I'm confident in Z. Not so sure about the offense. But I'm confident in Z. The last time he pitched on this much rest, he pitched a no-hitter.

I'm on the record as saying we'll win both games in LA. So the offense needs to show up tonight. And so do the fans. Last night was embarrassing.

People need to get over this story.

Yeah, it's been almost 24 hours.

It's also a non-story.

I really really want to see the Cubs win again. This season.

This.

I forgot what it feels like to win a post-season game.

Now that I won an opportunity to buy NLCS tickets, the Cubs really need to win tonight or I'm going to want to

That was the basis of what my post was going to be...

First post here, but I wanted to offer something that worked for me when my team was in the post season in 2006. I don't know how many of you bet online, or have access to it, but I did at that time.

I was so worried, sick in fact, that we would never win a game. To offset my worries, I placed fairly large bets on the opposing team, for a win win situation. Of course, no amount of money could replace my wanting to win the World Series, so I was not afraid to go as high as I could go without hurting the family finances.

I would always take the series bet, and individual games. I had a pretty good system going, and I think you could too. With the Cubs the favorites, the odds for the opposing team will be good. They were for me in 2004 and 2005 also. (I did the same thing then)

Now you may think betting against your team is a sin, but if your team is going to lose, shouldn't you at least be paid for your sorrow? I just KNEW that the baseball Gods did not want my team to win the world series, so I really went all out when we actually got to the World Series. I figured I would end up rich, or I would end up with my dream come true.

In 2004, and 2005, I ended up pretty rich. In 2006, my dream came true. Yep, I am a girl Cardinal fan, and read these boards faithfully. I feel your pain, I really do. So why not be paid for it? Just a thought.

Stupid question, but would you feel that this season is slightly more validated if the Cubs win at least one playoff game vs. being swept?

Nope. To be completely honest, if the Cubs are going to lose the series, I'd rather have them just get swept so they don't get my hopes up. Either win the series or get swept.

In 52 division series, the loser of game one has gone on to win the series 17 times.

Lou Piniella was managing 2 of those 17 teams.

Eight of the seventeen lost the first game at home.

Only once in the NL, though. Atlanta in 1999 lost the first game at home to Houston but won the series 3-1.

Right now, were down by 3 in the 3rd. Win tonight, and were down by 1 in the 4th. Lost tonight, and were down by 5 in the 8th.

What are you talking about?

I'd love to at least feel the joy of one playoff win, the first once in 1796 days.

I was practically not a Cubs fan in 2003 (Thank God) so I want to experience te joy of winning at least 1 postseason game. Please, Cobs.

Looks like a metaphor -- portraying the whole series in the form of a back-and-forth single game.

In other words, don't worry. The game hasn't started yet; you're not missing it. ;)

I'm on the other side. I can't realistically expect a WS title, anyway -- the odds are too bad. So my sights are lower: compete for the championship, give it your best shot, look like you tried.

So . . . yeah, a sweep would be bad and avoiding it would be a consolation. But part of me couldn't care less how or how badly we lose, just that we did (errr will . . . err, maybe) :)
