Seriously. I don't think you guys don't understand how awesome that Fukudome rant was from Lou. He just earned his extension in my mind.

So let me get this straight. Fukudome is trash for about 4 straight months, Lou starts him in the playoffs, he's still trash, and then Lou is surprised/upset? Good job Lou

Yeah but Dusty would have done the exact same thing, but still defended him, and then made some sort of weird fishing analogy that confuses everyone and causes him to change the subject.

Also Mike Fontenot would be out of baseball if Dusty was still the manager, so the next best option would have been like Steve Finley or something, but still.

Seems like being unable to perform his job would be a bigger hit to his psyche than some American calling him out. The Japanese individuals I have met in my industry show extremely high amount of pride in their work ethic and ability to perform their job. Fukudome, cannot perform his job.

That's my hope, that he takes his poor performance as completely unacceptable from a professional standpoint, works hard and is able to rebound strongly next season. My fear would be that he takes the criticism to heart and the eventual outcome is a messy one, either him returning to Japan or getting traded/disgraced out of town, Sammy-style.

The worst thing about Kosuke is that it's going to make it nearly impossible to spend money on a new right fielder when we've already got one making 48 mil.

ANother outstanding Jim Hendry signing. I think he's trying to assemble the most disastrous outfield ever.

You want me to bring back up the Fukudome signing thread? A big majority of this board here loved it at the time. Or I'll bring up a gamethread from April or May when everyone loved him and thought he was the greatest signing ever. I don't even know if you were around then, but if you were I'd love to see what you were saying about him back then.

Fukudome disappoints me and I'm disappointed for him. We all had such high hopes and there was no reason not to expect that he would do better than this to some degree. I'm disappointed for how his first season has turned out - he leaves his home and his country to play in America and his first season will end with him performing so badly that Lou calls him out to the media. Disappointment abound.

I would imagine that Fukudome's pride is taking a huge hit. Isn't getting called out in the media even more embarrassing in Japan?

Considering it's a collectivist society, I would say that being called out in front of pretty much the world, would have a detrimental effect.

Yep.

Since we play here in America, the [sporting] media does little to sugar coat it. He sucks right now. He's letting his company down. He's a failure. I'm sure he feels bad.

Why are we comparing Lou to Dusty though? Dusty should not be the standard manager to make comparisons about. Everybody is better than Dusty, so you shouldn't be congratulated for it.

Fukudome has been trash for months and everybody knew it. It's Lou's fault for playing him.

Dusty actually managed a team to a playoff series win.

sorry, had to do it.

Got home about an hour ago but needed time to vent.

Only positive I took from the game tonight was meeting Fred and Yeti for the first time.

Haven't read the forum, but here's my take (I'm sure it's much of the same):

1. I've been saying for the past 2 days that Fontenot should be in the lineup if at all possible. The guy has been a beast and there when we needed him all season. If there's any possible 20% chance that DeRo could play right (which, by the sound of Lou's postgame he could have) then why the hell wouldn't he be? Hell...put Reed out there if nothing else.

Sidenote - How did Fukudome not catch that ball that Edmonds got hurt on?

2. 1 player showed up to play tonight. I feel bad for him. Did anyone else think Lou should have taken out Z earlier tonight? And then, giving him his AB in the bottom of the 5th? Come on.

3. We really needed to score in the first inning. That was a total dump we took on that great early opportunity.

4. Derrek Lee, Mark DeRosa, Ryan Theriot and Aramis Ramirez...you are professionals, right?

5. Aramis Ramirez...earn your money buddy. I will say the same for Sori to an extent, but we know and understand that he's a streaky hitter. We depend on Aramis though.

6. Get some balls Lou.

7. RANT: Please stop bringing your loser girlfriends to the playoff games. And stop selling your tickets to people who have never been to a game before. If I want to vent and voice my displeasure, I'm going to do so. If you don't like it, go to hell. I don't like paying good money for season tickets and then have to listen to you chant "Fu-ku-do-me" when we are losing 9-1 in the 8th inning.

8. That being said, I like the matchup Saturday and we can really only go game by game now. No sense looking or planning ahead.
