Just heard about it.

If Font is going to play, why couldn't he play today?

What happened?

Someone asked Lou if Fukudome would play again and Lou said that he won't start him anymore and that Fontenot will play. He said he is overmatched and in a slump or something like that. Pretty quick response, pretty terse.

This is hard for me to do since I was saving my first post on here for something special. I fully expected great things with my first post. Boy was I wrong. This is absolutely devestating to me. Where has this sloppy play come from? This ranks up there with dissapointment with 2003. I give up, never mind I'm drunk

He was asked about Fukudome, interrupted the question halfway through and said "I don't want to hear about Fukudome. It's gonna be Fontenot or somebody else out there. The kid's struggling, no use sending him out there anymore."

Wow. That was pretty brutal. Anyway we can buy out half his contract or something and send him back to Japan? i can't imagine him actually wanting to stay here.

What happened?

Reporter asks question about Fukudome struggling

Lou (interrupting reporter): Yeah, you know what, ugh, from now on I don't want to hear about Fukudome anymore as far as whether he's going to play or not. I'm gonna play Fontenot or Reed Johnson or somebody else and that's the end of that story. The kid's struggling and there's no sense in sending him out there anymore.

Great question. That homerun he hit in Milwaukee gave him 2 games starting in the playoffs.

Fukudome disappoints me and I'm disappointed for him. We all had such high hopes and there was no reason not to expect that he would do better than this to some degree. I'm disappointed for how his first season has turned out - he leaves his home and his country to play in America and his first season will end with him performing so badly that Lou calls him out to the media. Disappointment abound.

I would imagine that Fukudome's pride is taking a huge hit. Isn't getting called out in the media even more embarrassing in Japan?

What did Lou say about Fukudome?

YOU'RE THE MANAGER LOU. YOU HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO PINCH HIT FOR PLAYERS WHO AREN'T PERFORMING. EVERYBODY WHO WATCHYES BASEBALL KNOWS HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PLAYING.

Lou makes me sick. What a terrible manager.

Whatever. The guys is stealing money from this organization right now. The White Sox have to be laughing that they settled on Alexei Ramirez.

This post game show is the funniest thing ever.

Len just said we should just relax and play the type of baseball we've played all year.

That's such a novel idea.

He is also consistently saying that the pressure is on the Dodgers right now. What the hell are you smoking Len?

The worst thing about Kosuke is that it's going to make it nearly impossible to spend money on a new right fielder when we've already got one making 48 mil.

ANother outstanding Jim Hendry signing. I think he's trying to assemble the most disastrous outfield ever.

Seriously. I don't think you guys don't understand how awesome that Fukudome rant was from Lou. He just earned his extension in my mind.

Considering it's a collectivist society, I would say that being called out in front of pretty much the world, would have a detrimental effect.

And that's why I miss Chip and Steve. Enough ass-kissing, Len. Come on.

So let me get this straight. Fukudome is trash for about 4 straight months, Lou starts him in the playoffs, he's still trash, and then Lou is surprised/upset? Good job Lou

Seems like being unable to perform his job would be a bigger hit to his psyche than some American calling him out. The Japanese individuals I have met in my industry show extremely high amount of pride in their work ethic and ability to perform their job. Fukudome, cannot perform his job.

Who could have predicted that he'd fail? Matsui has earned his pay (i think?). Either way, he's been productive.

I kept holding out that Fukudome would really alter his approach this offseason and be moved to center (if we got a good bid on pie).

I haven't heard the post game conference, but I know I'm pissed at fukudome, so he's gone. Let's take it one game at a time.

PS - Tomorrow will suck
