Bob thinks he was bracing for contact. Either way--meaningless game or not--our bullpen doesn't inspire must confidence.

Well in the playoffs we would have handed this game to marmol/wood with a 2 run lead, not cotts/howry.

Didn't Cotts place us in this predicament? Yeah, I think he did. And to think Lou won't place Howry on the post-season roster, or use Howry in a tight spot, is just silly thinking.

In the playoffs, I find it highly unlikely that anyone but Marmol or Wood would be used in any significantly "tight spots."

There are off days.

Wood and Marmol cannot be used in each tight spot. Shark is sorta blowing, Howry sucks, Cotts sucks, not sure if Gaudin is gonna return to form...etc.

lol they actually think we're conspiring against the brewers when we've won two of the first three and played our regulars quite a bit?

I'll go ahead and say it. I'm pretty worried about our bullpen outside of Wood, Marmol and maybe Marshall.

I predict the bullpen will be dominant during the postseason. Just a hunch.

yeah but cubs had the lead in the 8th. marmol will pitch pretty much every 8th inning.

I actually do think Marquis could pitch well out of the bulpen, at least better than Howry or Shark has.

I like to check out the Brewer.net game thread to see if they are whinning...In some cases, yes they are...

A few Brewers fans are whining, but - for the most part - they seem reasonable:

Cubs sitting EVERYONE tonight.

That's right - nearly all of their regulars have been given a seat tonight. That includes Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, DeRosa, and Soto. I'm sure that also means Harden won't be pitching long (definitely don't blame them if they're careful with him).

I know there are different philosophies in all of the major sports heading into the post-season, but I personally don't think its a sound strategy to rest all of your players before the biggest games of the season. I suppose they've earned that right though, sigh... If Piniella is only giving these guys one day off, I think it sucks that he is choosing one game in which to do so. I'm one of those people - and this is just my humble opinion - that believe that teams have some responsibility to field a competitive team when they've already locked up a playoff birth but that's just me. Lets see what they do against the Brewers...
