Just in case Bud Selig doesn't know he's a despised figure to the Astros, a few of the players were wearing black T-shirts today expressing their feeling about the commissioner's actions.

"We survived Ike," the back of the shirt read in red lettering atop a drawing of the radar impression of the eye of the storm.

On the front, it read: "Bud killed us," over a drawing of the commissioner.

The Astros were upset at Selig's decision to force them to play the Cubs at Miller Park on Sunday and Monday while relatives dealt with Hurricane Ike.

oh for pete's sake. these guys are professional baseball players, there was absolutely no reason for any of them to be in Houston when the hurricane went through. Evacuate their families and await instructions, they would have been just as ready to go as the Cubs were.

I'm also sure the people of Houston and everywhere else affected by Ike appreciate these well to do baseball players wearing shirts proclaiming "Bud killed us".

Wow, Cecil Cooper needs to get a grip on his players. They've completely lost focus. How embarrassing. It's comical that they're blaming anyone/anything other than their owner.

What a bunch of idiots.

Their fans are even worse. Bunch if fairweather a-holes like White Sox fans. I've really come to despise anybody associated with that franchise since moving to Texas.

The entire cities sports fans suck. Astros, Oilers, Rockets, Texans, etc.

What's their excuse for getting the butts kicked by the Marlins?

Maybe it's just that a team that is not that good was due for a bit of a correction after winning 14 of 15.

Nah, must be the fault of having to play two games in Milwaukee.

That being said, anyone that wants to rip on Uncle Bud for any reason has my support.

I'd be happy to cut some cheese to go with their whine.

They should have gotten it while they were in Milwaukee. Doesn't Wisconsin have alot of cheese?

Oh you can bet the Milwaukee series will be blamed for the rest of their season if they don't make the playoffs. Which it looks like they won't. I wouldn't be surprised to find, in the fullness of time, that the Cubs become the de facto blameee too.

If the Astros were on the road that weekend this would be a non-story. You wouldn't hear a damn word about the players needing to be home with their families. This whole woe is us, how dare you make us play baseball at a time like this is a crock of Howry.

Aww.........it's good to know the Astros already have their "scapegoat" as to why they couldn't win when it matter.

Yes Astros, you got screwed, but the game of baseball doesn't change, even if you moved venues. You still have to pitch the ball, catch the ball, or hit the ball and the Astros clearly couldn't do two of those things.

But yeah, the Astros lack of pitching and hitting is clearly Bud Selig's fault.

Grow up Houston, grow a pair, and act like men.

Three things:

1. Astros - whine - that's what they do

2. They did get screwed with location. Should have been moved to the Ballpark at Arlington. It was an Astros home series. How would we like a home series moved due to weather to say Busch Stadium?

3. #1 & #2 don't matter as the Astros couldn't hit worth a darn.

No sarcasm intended. Didn't know the green = sarcasm rule. I'm 16greenhuskies you see....

i think it's perfectly reasonable to say that hurricane Ike threw a huge wrench into the Astros season. but it's beyond stupid stuff like playing home games in Milwaukee. i'd venture to say their minds were on much more important things than the games they were playing the last several days. they're human.

publicly whining about Bud Selig in this fashion is incredibly lame though.

Any talk about moving the series to Arlington is moot, because they wouldn't have played any games there either that weekend.

If they were average citizens, I'd have sympathy for them. These are multi-millionares. They have the resources to evacuate their families at a moment's notice. I don't feel sorry for them. The games should have been moved in the middle of the week, EVERYONE knew this hurricane was going to hit Houston and baseball was not going to be played there.

LaTroy Hawkins had the shirts made. I'd like to know who else was wearing them.

LaTroy Hawkins ordered and paid for the initial batch of 50 shirts, which were hanging in the locker of every player, coach and even manager Cecil Cooper when they arrived at Dolphin Stadium for the series finale against the Florida Marlins.

“Enough said,” Hawkins, who had 60 shirts made, said.
