7IP, 3ER from Dempster is not bad. Too bad the offense is anemic tonight.

It's a "crappy" start according to some.

At the time it was

At the time it was 3 runs in 5 which I still don't see as crappy. One inning more without a run is a QS and two more and it's probably considered a pretty good start.

For Dempster that is not that hard to do as he proved here tonight. You can't call a start crappy because he gives up 3 runs in 5 or if he gives up 1 run in in the first if the man is still pitching.

Boy this blows. Well, they weren't getting through the season without one real slump. Nobody does. Here it is and fortunately they have built a cushion. Though I'm not ready to give up on this game yet.

We've had a real slump. This is the second one. We came out of the other one tied for 1st place.

Not a big deal though, as much as people would like you to think the season is over.

Meh, that slump was really treading water over a 32 game stretch. They never looked this bad then.

Wat?

I'm talking about the 4 game losing streak and the inability to score any runs right after the All Star break... remember that?

OK, I guess I modified the sample to suit my argument. That 4 game streak was part of the 32 games, but fair point.

Pretty sad that Casey McGehee is out best RH option off the bench, especially after rosters have expanded.

Yes, this IS sad.

In an increasingly important game, the Nats have runners on first and third one out tied 5-5 with Philly.

C'mon Nats, ensure we aren't 8 up!

Edit: 6-5 Nats!

Your argument would've looked a lot better if you didn't cite that terrible QS stat.

Who in the heck is saying that?

I haven't given up on this game, but we better score in the next two innings because we have never been able to do anything off of Valverde.

Hmmm... one poster said the Cubs had the worst pitching in baseball and that Dempster's stuff looked terrible... I'm no scout but it looked more or less the same as what I've seen all year

I'm not going to read 30 pages worth of posts, but if so, that may classify as one of the dumbest posts of the season.

Worst pitching in baseball? Dempster's stuff is terrible? The same Dempster that is putting up close to a Cy Young season? Hmm...not seeing the knowledge there.

Im confused. Does our magic number for a playoff spot go down when the Brewers lose, or do the Phillies have to lose as well.

For a playoff spot? Just the Phillies

Why are you citing quality starts? One of the most useless stats in baseball. 3 runs in 5 innings is crappy any way you slice it.

For a playoff spot, only when the Phillies lose.

As frustrating as this 4 (going on 5) game losing streak has been, how mad are you if you're a Brewers fan??

Cubs lose 5 in a row (or at least appears to be so) at the end of August/start of September, and you lose noticeable ground in that stretch (Magic Number)? Thanks to that Mets sweep, its the numbers are hurting Milwaukee now, but its more the dwindling amount of games to be able to fall back on.
