Iowa State had an unexpected burst of offense and beat Kent State 48-28. ISU is still awful against the run, but the pass D seems to be improving over last year. 2 QB system seems to be working so far, but we'll see what happens when they take it to Iowa next week.

Also, USF just took an intentional delay of game at the UCF 20 with :15 left. I can maybe see giving the kicker a better angle, but it was 2nd down and they had a timeout as well. Run the ball to the middle of the field. Kicker missed, in OT now.

seriously, who is the best team in the big east? that's definitely going to be the tallest midget.

USF pulled it out. Got a lucky call at the end though.

I want to know why, when I clicked on "post reply," i got sent to laserspineinstitute.com.

Well, if there's nothing else I can say about my Hogs, I can certainly say that they're resilient. Even though it was against Western Illinois and Louisiana-Monroe, they've come back from ten point fourth quarter deficits in two straight weeks to win games. And, for the second straight week, a freshman wide receiver had a big game. This time it was Joe Adams, the last-minute signee who decommitted from USC on signing day, who snagged 7 balls for 89 yards and picked up another 9 yards on a reverse. And DJ Williams had a monster game at tight end, catching 5 balls for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Williams may end up the best pass catching tight end in the nation before it's all said and done. And Casey Dick went 22 for 34 for 323 yards and 2 touchdowns for his second striaght 300 yard game. On the downside...just about everything. Defensive collpase, lack of scoring for a team that put up over 500 yards...what else do you want?

Here comes the fun part. Escuse me, "fun" part. Depending on how Alabama moves in the polls the next two weeks, Arkansas could have a string of four straight top 10 teams on its schedule next, with Texas, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn coming up. I would honestly be ecstatic if the Hogs took ONE of those games. This is an extremely young team with a ton of new starters (6 on offense, a whopping nine on defense), a new system, and a new coach to adjust to. They'll be playing their best football at the end of the season, most likely. Here's hoping they improve enough to lead into next year.

Man, this is not gonna be fun.

I'm hoping there is a 4 way tie at the end of the year, all with 4-3 conference records

ah crap, duke lost.

i went to the georgia-central michigan game to visit my sister.

knowshon moreno is a beast. He hurdled over one of the players trying to tackle him, and finished with a 9.3 ypc. He needs consideration for the Heisman.

I ended up rooting for WVU, but I am OK with ECU winning. ECU might be able to run the table, this year.

Well, it was nice to see FSU beat up on an inferior opponent again. First time I've seen that in a good 7-8 years.

I wasn't very optimistic to start the season, but we could be pretty good this year. I definitely see us having a shot in the ACC, considering that 80% of the teams look like a good HS team could give them a scare.

doesn't the big ten use "team that's gone the longest time since winning a big ten title" as the tiebreaker in these situations? if so, how idiotic.

That's how they choose who goes to the Rose Bowl, which is usually the same thing (barring getting a team to the BCS title game)

wow, Northwestern beat Duke. program is finally turning the corner

Barely.

I think SIU is going to have a good chance at going in there to contend for a win next Saturday afternoon.

SIU defeated Hampton 37-31 tonight, although the score was a lot closer than the game actually was. 14 of Hampton's 31 points came on luck plays that were tipped by our DB's (and should've been picks) that landed right into the Hampton wideouts' hands. Our 3-4 defense looked awesome against the run as we held former Tennessee RB LaMarcus Coker to only 20 yards on 10 carries.

NIU choked again in the 4th quarter. Not a good start for Jerry Kill.

PSU's O-Line is really good, which makes Daryll Clark better. This team should easily be 4-0 heading into the game with the Illini

if either the game at syracuse or at home against temple are competitive, there's a problem.

clark looks pretty good as far as making the right decisions, which nobody would ever say about morelli. we shouldn't lose more than 3 games this year, and if we can't beat michigan this year, i'm pretty sure it will never happen.

Agreed. Clark so far has made better decisions, been more accurate, and has the wheels to run for the first down/TD himself. We should finish with a better record than the last 2 years but we'll have to see.

i'd say the following games are games that psu definitely should win: @syracuse, vs temple, vs michigan (i know we never beat them, but we're just better than them this year and it's a home game), vs indiana, vs michigan state. -- that's 7 wins

should lose: @ohio state

so that's 7-1. the other games - vs illinois, @purdont, @wisconsin, @iowa. i think all those games are winnable but it's more likely that psu wins 2 or 3. wisconsin is beatable if you force the qb to beat you, but since half of the defensive line is either pugilistic or high, we're pretty thin up there, and i could see wisconsin just pounding the ball and wearing psu down. i think you just have to put 8/9 in the box and try to get enough pressure on evridge that he makes some bad throws. illinois will likely be high scoring but i think we should win that one as well. i don't have a good feel on purdont or iowa; i think purdont is better and that game might be a little tougher.

A little discouraged by KU's offense, particularly the running game. I'm hoping it's just a young offense line still learning to gel. And despite USF's struggles, I'm pretty worried about that game next week.

I can agree with that assessment, with the exception of Purdont. Not familiar with that school.

It is down right now but the difference with the BE and the other BCS conferences is that a BE team will travel to a non BCS team while the others will not. WVU lost at ECU, USF went to UCF and won in OT in an emotional end of a series game.

texas went to utep, minnesota went to bowling green, aTm went to new mexico, arkansas went to la-monroe, maryland went to middle tennessee st., texas tech went to nevada. that's 3 big east teams, 1 sec team, 1 big ten team and 1 acc team.

last week va tech, mississippi st and boston college did it. next week ucla, arizona and wisconsin are doing it.

so i'd say that whatever point you were trying to make isn't a good one.

My point is EVERY BE team does it. Let me know when OSU, Penn St, Michigan, LSU, USC, Georgia do and it isn't on a neutral field.

Just stopping by to pimp my pirates. I think everybody around here was expecting them to be better, but not this good. This is the most fun I've had since I came here 7 years ago... :-))

They should be favored in every game from here out. I doubt they run the table, but I could really see 12-1 or 11-2 and a major bowl bid.

They had a nice team last year and I knew WVU would have a tough time with them, congrats and keep on winning!
