Had Greg gotten enough run support from some bad Cubs teams those early years (or in 2005 and 2006 for that matter) he probably would have been able to get 400 wins.

1990's the only year with the Cubs where it looks like he should've got more wins than he did. Losing parts of his 2 best seasons thanks to the strike hurts more than that.

If he played for a bunch of crappy Atl teams like they had throughout the 80s, he'd be Bert Blyleven.

There's no way Maddux will make it to 400. He needs 47 more wins, which would mean pitching at least 4 more years and probably 5. He might get in one more year, but anything after that is just going to tarnish his HOF career.

Regardless of how long Maddux sticks around, nothing short of being linked to steroids would tarnish his career. What are people going to say... "Sure he won 360 games and had 20 great seasons, but he just wasn't a good pitcher at age 42." I don't think he will make it to 400 wins either, but I do think he will probably play one more season and end up somewhere around 370.

If Maddux pitches one more season, there's a pretty good chance that he'll pass Warren Spahn for the most wins by a pitcher in the post-WWII era.

That would be highly nifty.

Maddux needs two wins to beat Clemens. I can't wait for that.

Maddux should have hung it up a few years ago, but at least he got to 350 clean.

Maybe, but he's been atleast a decent backend of the rotation guy for the last few yrs. And I wondering if Maddux is trying to go for 400 wins as a starter. Go to a team with a very good offense, and pitch at least 3 more yrs (4 tops)---Dodger stadium would be a good place for him to try and reach 400 wins---and give it a shot. Seeing a "clean" pitcher shot for 400 wins, would be better then watching a "alledgely" juiced OF go for 715.

Maddux is what 42 yrs young?

Randy Johnson is 45 yrs young...and Moyer is 46 yrs young. And seeing as Maddux has shown no signs of actually slowing down (since his last GREAT season of 2002 in which he had a 2.62 ERA, Maddux's era have ranged from 3.96 to 4.6 since 2003) and there has been no hint from maddux that he is considering retirement, it is quite possible Maddux could pitch another 3-4 yrs, and do at a league average pace. I think Maddux will pitch atleast 3 more yrs.

Maddux is a guy who will pitch as long as he wants to pitch, and won't put up with any of that fan-issue nonsense of hanging on too long. I could see him getting to 400. It's a longshot, but not completely impossible.

Old Man River to the Dodgers! Nice! Another bad pitcher we can crush in the playoffs, thanks Dodgers!!!
Actually, no. He isn't the pitcher he once was, but he's by no means a bad pitcher.
