I'm so pumped for the Penn State game on Saturday even though I know it's going to be a blowout.

I had to go to Coastal Carolina's website to find out that their mascot is the Chanticleer, "the crafty quick-thinking rooster from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales ". that's a top 10 worst mascot ever

Can OU suck this year in Dallas please. Texas defense is going to be solid, but the offense has some unknowns at RB. Should be a fun game, hopefully.

i fear it every year, but this year im really worried

our offense is going to be tops, but defense is your stregnth

meanwhile, your offense shouldn't be too great, but neither will our defense.

weird matchup

i have a cousin who is playing in his first juco game for rock valley cc against cod on saturday. going down to rockford to see him play.

he's your run-of-the-mill 6-8 340 pound OT.

Damn. Get him a year or two of solid, healthy OL work and I bet he'll at least land on a D-2 team somewhere.

It's one thing to have pride in your conference. But it's really stupid when a middle of the road conference teams fans chant it at a game.

Steve Spurrier's son is 5'4". I think they need to do a DNA test on the local milk man.

My dad is 5'8" and my mom is 5'6" ... I'm 6'4"-6'5"ish

I'm a full head taller than the rest of my family

Ball State clobbered Northeastern tonight 48-14 - the Huskies scored with less than a minute left in each half, otherwise you're looking at a whitewash. 280 yards, 3 TDs for Nate Davis, almost 100 yards for MiQuale Lewis after compiling 78 in the first quarter. A solid start and tune-up for Navy next week.

that's what we're hoping. he definitely fits the prototype.

Last year I actually was able to watch the game against Navy on DirecTV. I believe it was on CST. I haven't checked yet to see if it's being televised this year.

Iowa State exceeded my low expectations by beating SDSU 44-17. It doesn't sound like much, but you have to go back to 2005 to find a game where ISU won by more than 11 points. Kent State, who won in Ames by 9 last year, should be a better test next week.

First absolutely idiotic play of the year, OSU reciever reaches for the goal line at the 3 and loses the ball out of the back of the endzone, down 8, with 47 seconds left.

Stanford, in a minor upset, beats Oregon State.

Sucks for the kid because that was a terrific drive and comeback attempt by Oregon State. I tend to agree with the announcers, though, that it's hard to be pissed at the kid.

It was a dumb play, but it was born out of an attempt at extra effort.

That Oregon State/Stanford finish was almost identical to Oregon/Cal last year. Both down by a touchdown, both had less than one minute to play, both fumbled inside the 2 yard line out the back of the end zone for a touchback.

Seriously how goofy. You might see that happen once a year at best in that situation. It happens two years in a row in a Pac 10 game allowing each of the two Bay area schools to pull out a win against each of the two Oregon schools.

I just found out I need to go to a bar to watch the Penn State game because RCN only has 2 big ten network alternates. Poop

I think DirecTV has 3, but I haven't checked the listings yet. Since there isn't any "regional" coverage with DirecTV, I imagine it will be on

The day the first two-deeps and game notes are released is magical.

Are you going Saturday? Please let me know how Syracuse looked when you get a chance.

I received my season tickets in the mail about a month ago (probably a more magical day than the release of the two-deeps). Forecast calls for upper 70s and sunny. Typical early season day in Evanston. Hopefully it falls to at least the low 70s, though.

Are you not going to be watching?

If I'm home I will and thanks for the weather report. We didn't do too well against spread offenses last year, among other things, but at least we are familiar with them and play the best one each year. We're really young and deep at RB but the OLine has to improve big time. The 2 best receivers are gone so that will hurt but if Robinson gets sacked 50 something more times it's a moot point.

Please let me know if the receivers get any separation and if they do, if they are open when Robinson gets sacked. I can't really see that stuff on TV.

Hankwitz will hopefully bring some nice blitz packages, but we'll also be without our best lineman (Gill) this week. And I still wouldn't worry about too many sacks. I'm a little concerned about the interior run defense. Of course, they may really try to force Syracuse to beat Northwestern through the air, which might be the best tactic. I'm excited about the improvements that our secondary will make, especially with the return of our best defender, safety Brendan Smith.
